Sure, but the flip side is I know plenty of acts that just wouldn't do it, because they have a different attitude towards their fans. Doesn't make the ones that do evil, but some certainly set a higher bar.

I suspect0 that you're almost always going to come a cropper if you follow a band more for their (supposed) ideals rather than just for the music that they make.

There's no two ways about it, stitching up paying fans is rubbish. It's also really rubbish if they've advertised BST as their last ever full band gig in the UK and then go and play another one at a festival that is notoriously difficult to get tickets for and in fact completely sold out before the Who get announced.

All the talk of boycotts and stuff a few pages back is optimistic though. Is a boycott really going to hurt the band? They still get paid and get the TV exposure. If it is in fact their last tour it's not like there's much of a lesson to be learned for the future. To a lot of people Glastonbury is the ultimate escape from reality for a few days (not a cheap one either), if they want to go and see The Who on their last night before returning to whatever shitty job they do on a regular basis fair enough.

I also think that if you start boycotting musical acts because they're dicks you're not going to have much left. Look at the three headliners, AIDS Deniers, an egotistical nutcase with racist tendencies, and a Child Sex Offender. Lovely.

Agree on the Paris / Amssterdam shows, but I'm pretty sure they haven't advertised BST as definitely being the last ever - at most, they've said it might be.

On The Who's website the Hyde Park gig is billed as "the final show of The Who hits 50! UK tour", not once have they said it is their last ever UK show. So Glastonbury could be considered as being not part of that tour, like how Metallica's appearance last year was not part of their "By Request" tour. I doubt very much that Glastonbury will be The Who's last ever UK show.

Roger Daltrey stated himself that most likely wouldn't be their last gig ever. Just their last full-scale tour ever. He was still open to the idea of one offs.

Townsend a few years ago.

Can't remember all the details.

Yeh I know what you were referring too. He paid to access a website to show that credit card companies allow you too, when searched his computer they found he never actually accessed the website though paid for it. So story adds up.

This gets brought up every few minutes since The Who have been announced, almost always as a gut reaction, but perhaps people should really do some proper research before jumping to conclusions!

(I did mention it a few weeks ago myself and got shot down in spectacular fashion).

Pete Townshend was cleared of all charges. There was absolutely zero evidence of him downloading child pornography of any sort. He was put on the offender's register purely as a precaution.

But we do love a witch hunt in this country don't we!

I'm more confused by how Kanye is racist...

I believe he has made some sort of allegations through his hippity-hoppity lyrics that white people are often less than sporting towards black people. which is ludicrous, I can't think of any of that sort of thing going on, anywhere, ever.

How the fuck can you call a whole band AIDS deniers if only one member believes that wacky conspiracy?

Exactly. The drummer's anti-vaccination instead.

If you read back,I was just just answering someone who wasnt aware who someone else was talking about when they said one of the headliners was a child abuser.

I wasn't 'bringing it up', someone else did.

I could remember something about Townsend and child porn but, as I said in my post, I couldn't remember all of the details.

So sorry, no 'witch hunt' from me

He knew the police were coming and had plenty of time to remove anything incriminating
