Shit move from the who to their fans.

Perfectly entitled to make that move.

Still a shit one.

You see, I don't think they are entitled to make that move.

ABLE to, maybe, but that's the benefit of their privileged position.

I'd like to see Courtney Barnett in November. I'm on duty that weekend. I could throw a sicky and go to the gig. I am able to, I'm not entitled to, I would be pissing on my colleagues if I did, as they'd have to cover me.

If Pete or Rog were ill the day before the gig, they pull out and it's unfortunate. But they made a (moral, if not legal) contract with the concert goers when they began selling tickets for that gig. They therefore have a moral obligation to provide 'the service that has been purchased' as it were. Just because they can pull out doesn't make it 'right' on any level.

I have had many such discussions with my kids over the years, teaching them that yes, that party does sound like fun, but you've committed to play for your football/rugby/gymnastics team that day, so you will need to honour that. Sometimes that's how life is.

As I said in an earlier post, for The Who to do what is being alleged, shows a fundemental disregard and disrespect for people who, over the years, are the sole reason why they find themselves in that privileged position.

As I have also said, I won't be wantching them one way or another, but I would struggle to go see them if I liked them and knew that they had, metaphorically, pissed all over 6000 fans in Paris. Just. Not. On.

This cannot be true. If it is it's a shccking decision by both eavis and the who,, I just can't see how they would let that happen, especially eavis.

I would certainly boycott going, I would feel embarrassed to watch them knowing some other punters, real Who fans, had paid lots of money to watch them specifically, in Paris, only for mostly non-fans to watch then in Pilton. I would feel I had taken someone else's Christmas presents even though I wasn't that fussed about those presents in the first place

It just can't happen, it won't I happen, Eavis wouldn't do it to the punters who bought tickets for Paris

According to a post on thewho.com forum, they're not only cancelling the Paris 28th show, they're also moving the 29th to the 30th!

As I said a while back, they apparently pulled a similar trick last year, cancelling dates in Dublin & Belfast about a month beforehand in order to go and play a (presumably more lucrative) show in Abu Dhabi.

Thats for the who to worry about. It's 6,000 people

I don't like bringing up football on here as it often turns into an argument, but..

I think I read you support newport (if thats wrong sorry) but still:

Terry Butcher is announced as their manager. If a few weeks before the season he says "Sod it, Im going to Derby" what would you think to that?

Same principle.

I find this hard to believe. Very hard to believe. But as of yet we have little justification for why Neil has made The Who TBC, other than he said it sounds like the rumours are true.

Does the forum post look legit, or it someone winding up fans?

If this happens then it makes it very difficult to rule out acts in future years.

Exclusivity now means nothing because of Metallica last year and playing gigs on the same day now means nothing because The Who.

Exclusive - Means nothing

Playing somewhere else - Means nothing

Only "dead" left on the list to count out!

Holograms next year, I tell yer!

None of these statuses for artists have ever been set in stone though have they. You're still better making an educated guess at a headliner that discounts acts who are already otherwise engaged. Even if it does happen this once, it doesn't mean it's gonna start cropping up every year.
