I think Glastonbury must have a good relationship with iow and don't want to ruin this.

The acts they have shared over the time are rare one's and to be fair for the 'big' acts that IOW can seem to attract I could understand this being possible. Not going to lie, I'll be a bit disappointed if it's Blur after all. There is no hype for it at all, Mick Fleetwood wouldn't be lying if at the time they weren't book because as things stood you wouldn't be buying a ticket based on them playing, I'm willing to think it's not Macca, I think they've had chances to bring him back since 2004 if they wanted him.

I have always said how Mumford and Sons, Coldplay and Elbow would be my worst three headliners !!! So if any of them are the Sunday headliner I shall steer clear of the Pyramid.

That said I think that they missed a trick with obviously a 'keen' AC/DC, I mean having Foo Fighters, AC/DC and Metallica over two years would seem pretty heavy for Glasto standards, but you have to go with what's best around at the time, which AC/DC very much are.

Where do you get this idea that AC/DC were keen?

The tour dates for Rock or Bust would have been finalised months ago, if they really wanted to do Glasto am sure they would have built their UK dates around it

Plus a month ago Brian said to Chris Evans "is there any rock n roll there? i thought it was all hipsters in wellies', hardly full of enthusiasm

That said i think they are probably pretty nailed on for next year, tour nearly over by then, easier schedule

didn't Neil also say a month or so ago that he'd heard a rumour that Glastonbury and IOW have some kind of 'agreement' over an act this year? said he wasn't sure whether to believe it at the time but now it seems like it could be right

Nope, he said they had both talked about an act but not that there was agreement I don't think. The details were unknown but the likelihood is that the headliner is from IOW.

He more recently stated that someone told him Eavis gave FM to Giddings... apparently.

Ok - if Prince was never in the running and this TBA isn't the result of anyone 'pulling out' how's this for a theory - Glastonbury and IoW agree to 'share' Fleetwood Mac. The stipulation of this being for Glastonbury that they'd have to wait until late on to announce it because of IoW's (and Fleetwood Mac's) ticket sales. It could have been planned for months.

I still really, really just cannot see it being Blur. God, this thread....!

*Edit - were F.Mac ever promoted by IoW as an 'exclusive'?

It could be feasible but both had ruled it out within that time frame, but then it's got to be one of them.

Surely there's no way round that? Would make a mockery of the whole thing and any 'exclusives' for any festivals could never be taken seriously again.

There isn't while the festival is still waiting to happen no but after they have planned, what are they 'actually' then exclusive to?! Nothing is the answer, yes it'd be a total piss take but much more so by the band than the festival booking. For me personally if FM didn't have all those o2 shows it'd be much different, anyone who wanted to all over Europe see them did have plenty of opportunity with those shows. I doubt you'll have people coming from all over the world for it, they did play last year after all.

Metallica were exclusives with Sonisphere last year. They were announced late as well...

their exclusive was more of a 'technicality'; the 'exclusive' was for their 'by request tour set list' rather than the different one they did at Glasto.

You already shouldn't take exclusives for festivals seriously.

Generally I don't .. Like I don't take Macca being an 'European festival exclusive' as meaning much. But the the wording of a 'worldwide festival exclusive' in regards to FM is pretty non-debatable in terms of the wording.

That Macca exclusive means nothing since he is playing a festival in dover mid June.

    • Hope they skip the fireworks and the burning of the man this year tbh, seemed dodgy last year with all the reports of embers and this year is drier. Don't want to be a killjoy but it's only a big bonfire at the end of the day.    May also need extra care with BBQ and gas stoves etc, always worries me slightly in the campervan field where vans are very very close together!    Not had campervan pass in the mail yet either.   Looking forward to the beer festival and enjoying a few pints while taking in some mellow tunes in the walled garden if the sun carries on shining like this 😎
    • Haha yeah maybe not the best comparison as Gavin seems a good lad. It was to express how he's usually spot-on with his information
    • Ah then yeah one of them has gotta be a very strong chance.
    • I think there could, repeat COULD, be some truth to this Madonna stuff, re BST and no Glastonbury.   Think it's demands around stage/production stuff.
    • Yes sorry for delay in replying! I'll message you when I put it on there. I think it goes live next week
