Interesting! When you talk about him being in London, are we talking big London? (i.e. Hyde Park or whatever) Or are we talking small-scale London as a warm-up? Cos I could still see the little bastard doing the former and avoiding the festival.

No idea, just in the UK, not any info as to what for.

Am I the only one who thinks that the Chems are a bit of a tired booking as a headliner these days?

Nope. They're a bit too 1998.

But Mr Emily is their manager or something, so they're likely to get a decent slot, and lets face it they'll definitely still pull a decent crowd.

That would be one of the reasons.

Although the Eavie have been known to fib.

Emily hasn't ever fibbed (as far as I can recall)

Micheal doesn't intentionally fib. He just gets overexcited and makes annoucements way ahead of time which are generally taking with a large pinch of salt.

alt-j could do Pyramid. I believe he also reckons Chems are doing Other on Sunday so alt-j probably will be on Pyramid (Gazza, no) so leaves a mystery Saturday headliner and there's nothing really concrete in there. No TBC's as we had last year for two of them so it's a bit of a leap to say we know them already.

My name here amused me. I've been saying The Chen Bros for Other Sunday for ages and I still maintain that Alt-J won't sub.

Nope, am with you. Tired is a very good way of describing it.

Joiners warm up could be Frank Turner. I'm reading his book at the moment and it gets a fair few mentions.

Yeah both him and The Vaccines have done fundraising for it in the past.

I've seen both of them there. Great gigs.

I think we can pretty much take from today that the final headliner in mind is prince, I can't for the life of me think of anyone else it could be.... And I don't like him at all.... Quick, Neil, leak to other press sites

I'd be happy to watch Prince, had been playing lots of hits on the last tour so hopefully not a self-indulgent 3 hour random B-sides set.

at the few festivals he has played it's been all-business - all the hits. the Hop Farm setlist is a good indication of that

The Joiners is a 5 minute walk from where I live. Be great to see Frank Turner there but if it was P***** (it really won't be though) well that would just be spiffing too! I'm guessing though that it'll be a much smaller act than him. Stone Roses maybe ;)

    • The Radio Dept.?! That's a surprise to me, they haven't toured in like 8 years. Hopefully they will announce some more shows.
    • I was assuming September in Stirling might have a different issue tbf in the form of it just pissing it down.
    • Yeah so many of mine seem to be just France v Spain in one semi and England/Brazil v Argentina in the other. But the fact those combos are the obvious ones mean it feels unlikely that'll happen because in World Cup history, you very rarely end up with what pre-tournament looks like the obvious final 4. We all see teams outperform and underperform. Which one is the fall guy is a different matter.   I've said elsewhere that for me, there's a hierarchy of Spain, France and Argentina as the 3 strongest looking, then England and Portugal, then Brazil and Germany, but that overall, they'd be the 7 likeliest to win. So I dunno, maybe this will be the time the Netherlands avenge the failure of total football in 1974 and achieve what they couldn't achieve through whatever the f**k Nigel de Jong was with his 2010 final karate moves.
    • Oh I think Infantino should resign. His handling of the whole WC process has been an utter shitshow. But you know. That would require him having integrity or something.
    • Good Charlotte would be fine third down or subbing. If they can get a bigger sub and still get GC, they’ll play third down.
