I'm sorry, I know I've said this before (broken record), but what about the Libertines..? They're in Russia on the Saturday which gives them time to get to Glasto for Sunday.. They love the festival, and they're not exclusives anywhere else.

I'm of the strong opinion that they're going to be somewhere and it would fit with the idea that they're not a big-name headliner, so everything would be announced at once, with the rest of the lineup compensating for the fact that it's not a huge act..

definitely don't see them as a headliner, but wouldn't be surprised if they were the Friday Other opener

To be honest I would be happy with that. If the rest of the headline up is as good as it was last year, that would be brilliant.

oh loving this one! I dont like pop music `because I dont know what it is`....no mate I dont like it because ive heard a great deal of it over the years(how could you not given radios bias for the genre) and its fucking shit....in my opinion......is that allowed? personal taste not acceptable? im sure many do like it, I dont, thats the way the world goes round does it not?

Whats "pop" to you then? Who are pop acts?

Since we're talking about them, The Smiths are one.

I'm not really sure. My brother lives in Norwich and messaged me last night asking if I wanted to go. I'm probably hoping for Muse or Foos or someone other kind of ooze. If it's some shite like Mumford I'll give my ticket away and see The Cribs in Norwich that night instead.

I understand your post was a joke saying that Foos are shite so I dunno why I explained the above.

Nah I like Foo Fighters. It's just they were already announced init and your gripe was her Flo being announced for both.

simple test: would it get played on radio 3?

yes - not pop

no - pop, which includes all heavy metal

*edit* excludes Late Junction

I agree with this. I also think it would make sense as to why they'd announce them along with the rest of the lineup, because by themselves it would be a bit 'oh cool, them again' since they're playing at every other festival known to man (apparently (almost)).

Well that's where you fall down matey, I've no issue with you going anywhere you want I was simply turning your own attitude around on you.....you telling me I should be at download etc and not glasto for example, and no steam believe me but if you want to get personal 'pal' then don't expect no reply esp when your claiming I said crap I never even said (tell me when I mentioned the kardashians again?) how sad do you have to actually be to create an argument when there isn't one like that? Bore off!

Bore off? How old are you? You don't give the impression of someone particularly mature. The fact that you have spent the last two weeks on here pissing and wailing like a colossal spoilt baby further emphasises that fact. "Oooh, I don't like this. So it's all shit" The contempt you're receiving from others further emphasises my point.

the smiths were one of the leading lights of the new wave genre, certainly not popstars as I understand it.....pop would has a wide definition however everything from Madonna and Kylie to the spice girls to boy bands to poppy dance/r&b music. I have a certain amount of respect for some 80s pop acts as at least they were were a bit more musically minded and not formed in the manufactured record company production line style of today`s acts, however that does not include Madonna who I have never been a fan of btw in the 80s or in modern times.

either way the majority of the genre is now nothing but soulless commercial record company jingles aiming at radio airplay alone it seems. no edge, no excitement, no passion, no talent and no soul.

that is my opinion take it or leave it now for fucks sake lets get back to talking about headliners of glasto rather then foaming at me for simply expressing my personal opinion on a genre!

The fuck are you talking about.

As I said previously, you don't understand it. At all.

Fuck me, is it that time of year again, when the "whats pop" argument rears its ugly head.

We've already gone through every act possible, a lot trolling, racism, people who are worthy of playing etc so its about that time yeah.

None of the names being thrown around excite me really.

Madonna would be a big name but I'd say it's about 15 years too late for her. Got some classics but she seems to want to be part of this EDM pop craze and it's awful.

Taylor Swift would upset people (other than that Martin guy on here) and that's already happened with Kanye. Doesn't mean it won't happen though I know. Not into her music.

Stone Roses I can't see happening as the aren't currently active. Like them and would probably watch them but I'm ruling them out tbh, nearly didn't include them on this list.

His Royal Highness I just can't see ever happening, this would be the most exciting though because this forum would lose it's shit. Maybe that's why we don't know who it is, they had to keep his booking air tight.

I could be elsewhere for every headliner this year. Foos I would be tempted to see but I've got a feeling something I prefer is going to be on elsewhere.

    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
