I quite like the last KOL album, it's the one that has Sex on Fire that killed them as a band for me, and the reason i'd avoid them at a festival is because of the shower of shite that is on that album.

I sort of feel like people look back on KOL's first 3 albums more fondly than they should because of the stuff that came after it. Sure, the first 3 albums are great and are much better than Only By the Night and Come Around Sundown but I feel that that's exaggerated at times.

Promoters promote. :)

I've also heard a few times now that people who've seen her do a queue of interviews for different journos are rather amazed at how good she is at giving the same interview again and again, and never giving more away than she wants to. It sounds like she knows exactly what she's doing, and how best to play things.

I sort-of feel sorry for people in her position when they get interviewed. If someone throws a list of names at them they need a way to deal with them without giving anything away.

I was a bit pissed last time I spoke with Emily myself, which was about a year ago - after most bands had been announced but not Metallica. I kept trying to ask her stuff about Metallica, and somehow we always ended up speaking about something else. She's good!

Michael's the same. Whenever I've asked him anything about who's playing he always says "I'd love to tell you but Emily will be very cross if I do".

I've stopped asking now.

Yeah it's possible the quality of the first three has become a bit exaggerated over time due to the poisonous sewage they produced thereafter

first album maybe, but the second IMO is unbelievable. King of the rodeo is one of my favourite songs to this day.

Same! Can't really get my head around this. It's a fair bit of money to cough up, especially at short notice

To be fair we've had notice since the 5th October...

Edit - I'm also suprised we haven't had a reminder by now.

I know I'll probably get laughed out the post here. Fair enough 'new blood' to feast on. But seriously, having looked at the rumours and the odds. Are Oasis really that far out of the rumour mill?

  • Noel has had a number 1 album recently. NGHFB have done well. But probably not headline status.
  • Liam's had his hair done...
  • Liam is no longer in a band and recently went to a NGHFB gig. Not enough to set the world alight but enough to hint at some kind of reconciliation
  • Noel was quoted saying Michael Eavis had never asked him, not Emily...
  • Noel also said that if he was asked, why would he say?
  • Massive Sunday headliner tightly under wraps.
  • British
  • Debatable legends depending on who you speak to.
  • 20 years on from WTSMG
  • Everything else is just as up in the air than these ideas. The Roses have been 2/1 last week for Christ's sake, out of no legitimate link whatsoever.

Personally would love it. Granted it would anger many and thats fair enough. And yes, I would prefer Stone Roses or Blur tbh, but that isn't happening.

Guess it depends on Noel and what he thinks of the credibility of his new band. But we've seen this kind of thing happen with others.Being in the spotlight with another band doesn't exactly make it seem impossible.

Sorry if it's been covered over a few pages back, but I can't be bothered trawling through. I've been on this page like many for the last 3 days scratching my head. I just can't see it being Taylor Swift or Florence. Prince I'd say is the strongest candidate. Of course I'll be wrong and you can all give me a good trolling. :)

Noel is busy for the first two days of the weekend. He wouldn't have time to rehearse it, even in the unlikely event he wanted to. He's also playing dates with the HFB through July (and maybe August, haven't checked) - why would he reuinte Oasis for one show only to then break it up again straight afterwards?

I think we established that 500 sticky pages ago

Look. I'm a fan of her music first and foremost.I think she's a genius songwriter With an outstanding personality. The image is very nice but in all honesty I go for the hippy chick look any day.

The second is a classic IMO, I would have played it hundreds and hundreds of times. It doesn't get boring.

Then they completely changed their sound and turned to absolute shite. I don't even bother listening to what they're doing anymore.

BST?

Can't see Glasto ever going for KOL again.

Agreed, but I was joking. Don't think they'll do anything over here.

When was the last time KOL was relevant? Pretty sure their last album was the most forgettable album ever.

A year before Biffy were relevant. But ask people who they think's gonna headline next year... :buba:

(don't really)

    • Another one from Sheffield DocFest this weekend, Earth Wind & Fire docu, directed by Questlove. Sensational archive footage, contributions from band members, family, plus a lot of very big fans (Stevie, Lionel, Flea, the Obamas) and a warts n all assessment of the genius / flawed human being that was Maurice White. Also, I never realised he started out as a jazz drummer with Ramsay Lewis. Well worth a watch.
