10,600 miles? blimey! I'm only travelling 10.

Haha, well if I was still in Frome (which I eventually will be on the Tuesday night), it's a short taxi ride away to the drop-off point, but from where I am now, at 2am in not-so-sunny Melbourne, it's a long way away. And I will enjoy every single second of the journey.

Yeah I'm just fully expecting it to be Flo. It just seems way too obvious a booking not to happen, and everything other than Emily's words would suggest it's her.

I said after Emily's comments that I'm 100% expecting her to be announced as headliner and us to be told that she wasn't headlining at the time.

I'm not sure whether I think it's due to someone pulling out/Emily telling porkies/misinterpretations, but I'm definitely expecting it to be Flo.

There's a presumption that people who are anxious for the line-up only care about the line-up and that's not fair at all. I'm eager for the line-up to drop as soon as possible, for a number of reasons:

  • It moves us one step forward towards those magical five days
  • The line-up tells us how the festival will look to fresh eyes and the public at large
  • I love the scoops Glastonbury Festival make and how they're often music rather than popularity centric.
  • I can actually start to think about how to structure my time there in term of must-sees.

Look, I'm not only spending £225 on a ticket, I'm travelling 10,600 miles to be there and I'll be there whatever the line-up because I know just what a place it is, and what it means to me. But I can also be excited for the line-up and frustrated when it isn't released. The two positions aren't mutually exclusive.

This is a really good post.

For many people, myself included, Glastonbury starts when we get the lineup. Forensicly pouring through every last detail for three months solid is as much a part of the festival as the Brothers Bar and queuing for the long drops.

yeah there's a huge part of me that is dreading the same thing for the same reasons. if it wasn't for Emily's interview, we'd all be convinced she was the last headliner. i just really hope she was telling the truth (and that that truth has stuck)

As I said, I'd not pay my balance if the lineup came out and there was nobody at all I wanted to see. That will never happen though. Surely people who've put down deposits know the kind of lineup Glastonbury put together every year and can be confident there'll be plenty of things they like on?

Yeah, I am confident of exactly that every year. But some people want guaranteed artists that they like - i'm not justifying it I'm just stating that people might see it that way.

As i said before I just want the lineup - which is why I've been trying to justify people moaning about not getting it.

Hopefully this time next week it'll be out and the missing balance payments will allow people who want to be there to go.

Yeah exactly. Tbf the only one on that list that I'd go and see would be Prince, so I won't mind if it does end up being her (didn't include Radiohead on that list because Christ I am not letting myself have any hope about that.

they MUST have been mentioned here, we have gone through every artist ffs!

Maybe been mentioned, but it seems we're working from a list of 4/5 most likely headliners now. It just seems they've managed to keep it so secret that I'm half expecting someone out of the blue.

You got to give it to them, they've done a good job this time.

unless it's either

a ) an act so terrible/un-Glastonbury that we never fathomed they'd be booked or

b ) an act who are totally inactive and reforming for the festival

i can't imagine they haven't been talked about a million times in this thread. i'd be very surprised if it isn't one of the acts from everybody's shortlists

Bowie would be the dream but for obvious reasons massively unlikely. Daft Punk would be one that's been mentioned obsessively in previous years but not so much this time .

Glastonbury don't have the money to get Daft Punk to do a one off festival performance. i imagine festivals like Coachella have thrown millions their way to no avail

One band I would love to see headline the Sunday but unlikely due to inactivity is Pulp. I know it would go down well with a large part of the Glastonbury crowd and would be a brilliant end to the weekend.
