Obviously subjective criteria comes into it on the festival bookers terms, which is why I said 'whether or not Glastonbury would book him is another matter'.

Don't try to be a smart arse when you knew exactly what point I was trying to put across.

Wasnt trying to be smart. Just got a whiff of sanctimony from your post.

100% genuine. TS isn't even especially tall (tho obvs she has heels on there). Here's him being only a little taller than a shopping trollley:

According to the ever conquering source that is Wikipedia, he's a measly 5ft 4inch

ELO!

The more I think about it the more I think there may be something in this. Before the Lionel announcement I was convinced they had Jeff Lynne as the 'Legend' this year. Since then I have struggled to think that if he appears, where would he be placed. I thought a strong sub to another big act maybe.

However, his Radio 2 concert sold out last summer and it looked and sounded amazing, he has the back catalogue of hits (people know far more ELO songs than they realise) and if he brought a full orchestra like he did at that gig it would be a great spectacle. It gave him the taste to do more gigs and I think the general consensus was that he would be doing more even though they have not materialised as yet.

Maybe not the massive headliner that people are expecting/wanting but it certainly ties in with the "not heavily rumoured" soundbite from Emily and I think it could be a triumph if they have taken a punt on him.

    • My wife works for a music company, they have an allocation already.  They run a ballot for it early next year.
    • This is my guess too.    2028 festival breaks the £400 barrier.
    • Yeah I did spot that AXS had more available for the O2 shows Muse are doing, though I think that comes with the territory of AXS now being the venue's primary ticket selling platform.    My instinct remains they'll probably still play to a big crowd on the night - sales were similarly slow in 2023 but videos of those gigs showed the venue looking pretty much full. Equally it probably would be sold out if the pricing was even just slightly less ridiculous. Shave up to £50 off some of these categories and I think that would've got people to go with it.
    • Some are definitely already there with that and with another round of inflation looking like it's on the way, it certainly locks that in. And I say that as someone who also isn't willing to break the £100 marker.
