What stands out is Peter Gabriel and Phil Collins and Steve Hillage and god knows who else all playing on the same stage at the same time { John Martyn may have also been in that lineup and there may have been others from Mother Gong } that was Glastonbury Fayre 1979.

No idea, but it almost certainly would have been someone I'd not heard of previously (or probably since) on a stage that i'd just happened to stumble across on the Wednesday afternoon. Possibly in the Green Futures Field.

To be honest, even if you restrict it to the major stages / Friday onwards I've still got no idea and looking at the lineup isn't helping any (I know I saw Love with Arthur Lee that evening, but they were on as a sub, so surely must have seen something before that).

I want to say Eat Static but I know for sure it wasnt them as we were all off our faces watching a juggler for hours and then someone piped up that we should get down there to see them and the sober person said through gritted teeth that we had missed them by hours.

hahahaha. Superb. I can absolutely picture that, clear as you like.

me too. But iif sober person was that bothered about eat static they should have left the piss-heads with the juggler.

I'm struggling with any sober person managing to put up with Eat Static for more than about 3 seconds, personally.

was that on the thursday night?

it was indeedy; really weird hour or so  after hearing MJ had died. Even weirder the following morning, waking to see all the MJ RIP t shirts for sale, talk about identifying a market opportunity!
