I've only been to the last 2, but saw a few pyramid headliners each time-

1. Elton John (2023) - just felt super euphoric the whole way through. banging setlist. Quite possibly the biggest crowd ive ever seen anywhere.

2. Dua Lipa (2024) - really got into her music before the fest so was really excited, and it delivered! sounded great, played all the bangers. Also loved the slighty more clubby/dancey vibe she went for.

3. Coldplay (2024) - not a huge fan but never seen them so appreciated that they played all their big hits. Were pretty good I thought, if a little bland.

4. Arctic Monkeys (2023) - im so done with this band. seen them plenty live and they get consistently worse each time. I get the vibe that they just cant be arsed anymore. Setlist was fine and sounded OK, but we all know they could do far better.

Didnt stay for all of these so probably unfair to rank them but:

SZA (2024) - just popped over briefly and she seemed decent, felt bad for her with the crowd/sounded sitch.

Guns n Roses (2023) - stayed to hear Welcome to the Jungle. Heard it, then immediately left for the SEC lol

I've missed most of them over last decade or so, and before that when I did used to go I still managed to miss a lot of the headliners...but I'll go for

1. Bowie

2. Stevie Wonder

3. Coldplay (yes really, first time they headlined before they got silly)

4. Gorillaz (the guests...I mean you have Mark E Smith, Sean Ryder, Lou Reed and Bobby Womack fgs)

5. The Cure (1990)

Watching that 2002 performance on TV (and knowing my sister was there watching it irl) was what made me determined to come to Glasto. Finally made it 6 years later.

@Ben7amin_ mentioning the number of festivals vs no of Pyramid headliners seen got me thinking so have ranked mine. Ten festivals, twelve pyramid headliners seen. Full disclosure, did have to look up who headlined each year - misspent youth, etc.

1. Arcade Fire 2014

2. Blur 2009

3. Stevie Wonder 2010 (perfect close to a perfect festival)

4. Foo Fighters 2017

5. Elton John 2023

6. Muse 2016 (ranks higher than 2010 because of the group I was with at the time)

7. Arctic Monkeys 2023

8. Muse 2010 (I'll be honest, I actually can't remember this that well)

9. Radiohead 2017 (I enjoyed them but mates brought the vibe down. Manchester a few weeks later was better.)

10. Kings of Leon 2008 (had to leave early that year and missed the Verve)

11. Gorillaz 2010

12. Coldplay 2016 (superfan for the first two albums, dreamed of seeing them on the Pyramid since being 11, this gig confirmed the relationship was over)

That Coldplay gig is in the top 3 of all of these. Topped by Blur in 1st and Elton in 2nd. Stevie was a close 4th. The fact you put Gorillaz over Coldplay nulls and voids your ranking.

1. David Bowie

No need for any more or the list, tbh. Not to say there weren't other good ones, but Bowie was Godlike on that night.

I was just about to post something very similar. It lives long in the memory. Saw him several times but that was the best. For us, Elton came the closest.

I enjoyed that Gorillaz gig. I said what I said and will not be taking questions at this time.

Think I’ve only seen 7 in 26 (?) Glastonbury’s

Joint 1st Beyoncé/Jay Z

Comfortably last - The Rolling Stones

In-between them I’m struggling to remember

Like you I prefer WH, both in atmosphere and acts, and love electronic/dance

I mean like it's well cool and edgy to miss headliners etc but I can't believe I missed Oasis, Pulp and The Cure in 95, Radiohead in 97 and Primal Scream, Blur and Pulp in 98...I mean...wtf was I doing...dancing with some f**king hippies outside a chip van or something? (actually 97 and 98 were muddy and sh*t and in 98 we left on saturday morning).

I blame the people I was with. I think some dullard suggested seeing Goldie on Other/NME in 95 instead of Pulp and there was just us and a few others.

my top 5:

1. Levellers - 1994

2. The Cure - 1995

3. Metallica - 2014

4. Pulp - 1995

5. REM - 2003

Will forever be gutted that I didn't start going until 95 so missed that Levellers headline slot.
