They proclaim it the best festival in the world. No doubt they had a good time but that doesn't come across in the video, it looks expensive, uncomfortable and seriously lacking in atmosphere.

These are the same dudes who went to Glastonbury once, seemingly spent a good 80% of the time at their campsite occasionally venturing out to see acts like Kaiser Chiefs, Franz Ferdinand & Arctic Monkeys on either the Pyramid or the Other and then bitched and moaned about how much better festivals like Reading & Leeds are over Glastonbury

Glsto is considered expensive  and uncomfortable too. Your point? Everyones general stereotype is that its muddy. Who wants that.

look who is around. Doubt its happening but...

Tbf, not everyone has to think glastonbury is the best festival going.  I love it but having been to others over the past few years the additional comfort, less walking, being able to see more acts etc.. are all massive benefits and I can see why people prefer other things

For breadth of and amount of entertainment it almost certainly is the best, but not as an overall experience. Yes it’s way up near the top, but there’s a least one UK festival that is better overall

they only saw Monkeys when they went to glasto. Kaiser chiefs defo didn't even play in 2023, they played last year. Don't think FF did either or if they did they didnt see them

this isn;t true either

Other than getting everything wrong, you were spot on. Did you even watch their glasto vlog? It's not perfect but gives a decent flavour of the fest minus the late night stuff

Whilst I agree, and I also say this as someone who loved most of the HFB stuff - how does he go back to that (same applies to Liam) after the Oasis hysteria?

Surely it would just be a fart in the wind at this poiny?..

They wouldn't, there is virtually no point in them touring again after Oasis.

When is Glastonbury considered uncomfortable?, busy, packed, bottle backed but uncomfortable?

Stereotype is muddy, who wants that?, YOU CLEARLY DO!, because you oay hundreds for it. You do realise that you constantly post reasons for why Coachella and every American Festival is better than English one's and Glastonbury which is massively contradictory as you ATTEND IT! I don't see loads of English people dropping £2000+ overall to get to Coachella each year but you drop money on it here.

Glastonbury as an all round bit of everything is the best, it's not what it was though. The thing is though, it was that far ahead of anything out there that even to come down a level it's still top. Its still the festival that if you get in you aren't bulking at paying the balance. Whereas, every single other festival in general needs to live up to the money whether it's something I fancy experiencing or not.

Kind of a werid one isnt it - and act that meets all the size and popularity of a Glastonbury size headliner -

but i dont think it would be very popular at the fest.

Kind of only way it might work - is if Karol G could be convinced to do an early slot on the Pyramid like Seventeen did the other year -  but i bet that depends on ego.

There’s one exception, particularly re “ that far ahead of anything”, a festival that is definitely ahead environmentally and on a couple of other metrics

Doesn't really mean she has a big ego if she turned that sort of slot down. If i were here I'd laugh in their face if they offered me that slot based on the size of venues she can play.

I might need to check my understanding of the word ego based on this reply...................

Probably the reality is she is just incompatible to play Glastonbury id strongly suspect she would be another SZA size crowd as headliner -

She has an ego, that's quote obvious, can easily been seen on her performances. How she's doing London Stadium is a bit mad!

I'd be more concerned that she's doing 1st and 6th of July leaning Fri-Sunday free for Rock Werchter with no Belgium date. She's doing Madrid and a Lisbon daye which make Nos and Mad Cool much less likely

Can you give a bit more detail for this?, which place are we referring to?

Il give you the credit and assume you are using this to say - generally a stadium in London as opposed to Confusing the magnificent Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with -   lessor impressive London Stadium. -  As a football fan this matters lol

Shambala

Way ahead of everyone on sustainability and environmental footprint, could argue that they’re the current “market leader”.

Much better class of attendees (crew and public), much friendlier. Better audience participation with less need to be led.

Just a better whole site vibe than any event I’ve ever been to

It was based on how she was doing something that big, it should have been a London larger stadium on the whole but was directed towards West Ham on thoae words more so when I meant Spurs. I'm sure they are similar sized, only attended West Ham.

I have not been so cannot have a view or knock yours. Neil did used to be very complimentary of Shambala though or someone did so you might be right.

Shambala without a doubt the best festival atmosphere i have ever experienced. But also probably not the most profitable which is why its model is not copied -

Market leader No....   Best Festival in terms of enjoyment of attendees -  you could definitely claim it

I meant in terms of sustainability and environment, in this area they are way ahead.

Interestingly the original owners have just handed it over to the current staff. It’s apparently the only staff owned festival on the UK circuit

Another plus is that they are truly independent.

Isn't Glastonbury is the largest recycling centre in europe during the week it's held?

In terms of scale and tons processed of course Glastonbury is going to “win”, but in terms of percentage recycled I’d say Shambala. I’d also say it’s likely Shambala would be ahead on rubbish produced per person.

The normal number of tents left is zero.

They also have a no meat/fish/dairy milk being sold by traders. A massive move on the sustainability agenda

Tbf I've been to both Tottenham and London Stadiums and can say Spurs is the better stadium but London Stadium has the better travel infrastructure.

    • yes, but it will be called a care tax...much nicer name...and they will bin inheritance tax which no one likes even though most people don't pay it....and it will be used to pay for your granny. Burnham is obviously the saviour and will win labour another landslide because he's nice northern lad and not some sir c**t from surrey.
    • Hey, I correctly predicted the entire Bizkit Main Stage day months in advance 😝
    • Its just going to be another dementia tax isn't it? The issue is this is going to be seen as a continuation of the labour government that have already raised taxes 1000% above manifesto promises.
    • One thing that Burnham has been talking about is scrapping inheritance tax and replace it with a social care levy ... which would be less progressive, but might be a good idea if was a solution for the social care crisis. Would need to sell it well to a public who would prefer not to pay more tax.
    • Maybe you should put your name forward to be Burnham's chancellor.
