2027 Headliners

it's tricky because I always kind of hope that the pyramid headliners are not up my street. Its generally not where I want to spend that part of my night because usually I'm more into whomever is headlning the park or woodsies.  So if the headliners were, for example, Gaga, Bruno Mars and Foos I'd be thrilled knowing that whomever was on the The Park would be a great counter weight to that.

I'll generally watch a Pyramid headliner if 1) Im a fan 2) it's a legendary act I haven't seen or might be last chance, or 3) I dont know much about them and I'm curious.

Most of the bands I'm a fan of wouldn't have Pyramid draw. I'm also not a huge fan of pop music (with some exceptions), so there's less and less for me there as of late.  But i'd show up for Harry Styles and for sure. and I'd really love to see Fontaines do it some day

Bruno Mars new album announced. But I dont think Emily has enough in the bank to pay off his  gambling debts. He fits all the criteria. But im sure itll be seen as a cheap novelty act. Then he will have 4 sold out nights at Wembley and youll re consider.

Don't think it matters if I reconsider.

I have very little say in these matters.

Since might even say zero say.

I don't think Bruno Mars is a Glasto headliner. I think we're looking at some combo of Radiohead/Harry Styles/Oasis/Florence+TM/Fontaines?/Gaga?.

F*ck it. TS has had a few years off, she was gonna do it in 2020.

I can't see Bruno Mars on that stage. And, I quite like Bruno Mars

I agree - don't see him as a Glasto headliner myself either.

From a size perspective, it's hard to argue against him being big enough, but he just doesn't feel to me to be in line with who the festival would normally look to as a headliner.

I appreciate this is fairly arbitrary but look at the last however many years and headliners seem to fall into one of a few pools...

 - The established festival headliners (Coldplay / The Killers / Radiohead / Arctic Monkeys)
  - Icons / legends of their scene (Neil Young / Elton John / Paul McCartney... even Guns n Roses)
 - Acts either at the peak of their careers or certainly big in the zeitgeist (Dua Lipa / O Rod / Stormzy ... even SZA)

There's obviously room for interpretation here as to where certain artists would sit (are The 1975 established festival headliners or are they at the peak of their careers - as an example) but I can't think of any headliners in a long time that don't at least fit one of these criteria.

Is Bruno Mars an icon / legend? I think that's a stretch. Is he in the zeitgeist? I don't think so...

That's not to say he won't be booked, or even booked in a non headliner position...

But based on his profile, I reckon his own shows, maybe BST, Radio 1 in the Park, maybe even IOW headline slots … are all a lot more likely.

I think this is bang on - I'd also add the likes of Pink, The Weeknd, Ariana Grande, Justin Bieber to this list. Could they do it? Absolutely. Will the festival book them? I just can't see it.

I am still hopeful of Rihanna & Gaga at some point though.

I don’t see any real pattern in headliners. After all they book all sorts of ejjits. At least I hope not as they would be massively restricting the available pool and showing a sadly unimaginative and possibly restrictive attitude.

Time for some “left field” bookings.

Harry Styles comeback is afoot

Is there a clue that hints this is necessary for Styles, H?

Tbf if it was initially shared on his Reddit, that would be a fair indication, and in keeping with the rumour an announcement was coming this month.

If you go to https://www.webelongtogether.co then it has Sony's privacy policy, also if you click you can sign up to Harry Styles WhatsApp group.

Yeah it's not completely overt from a glance - it also links back to a tour video that was uploaded on his YouTube channel a few weeks ago.

The Weeknd is certainly at another level of Bruno Mars and the acts next to him in your post.

He would be a huge get.

Still not sure what happened to the Weeknd when he was booked on 2013?  Dont get me wrong Bobby Womack was an incredible replacement act - that i was glad to catch - but im not sure any one ever knew why he pulled out -  Anyone shed any light?

We've hit peak fallow year names, I see.

Imagine we have a while to go yet before any concrete rumour 🤦‍♂️

Maybe we'll hear something around the weekend Glastonbury would be if it was being held this year.

Probably related to working on the Kiss Land record.

Could defo see Harry Styles yeah. Was there not a newspaper article to that effect a while ago (I'm aware some papers spew shite, but sometimes they get it right).

Harry Styles Glastonbury 2027 rumours fuelled after album 'update' | Metro News

The rest is entertainment podcast talking about it apparently.

Can also defo see Oasis happening if they're about in 2027 as seems to be the rumours.

Then if it's too male ones it's likely another would be female. Gaga, Rihanna the usual rumours alongside T Swift but if they did have Harry and Oasis they could easily have Raye or Olivia Dean etc

Olivia Dean

Oasis

Harry Styles

Can certainly see it being a fully British trio next year, anyway. A lot of good options about, it seems.

Replace Oasis with Foo Fighters and that would be my guess

    • Having done all three, Porto is lovely, very chilled but nowhere near as exciting as Barcelona (nor as many options). Bilbao BBK has charm but again not a patch on Barcelona really.   ps and the beer was 5.50, not 5, last year 😉
    • Honest question and with the risk of getting slaughtered, do you feel people should stop the chatting on the entire field? When my group is in the front rows we surely keep the talking to a minimum and largely only about how great or bad the artist is. But surely on the main field when you are further back (lets say around the bars (200 meters from the podium) you should be able to have a conversation. If people are still annoyed about that I would recommend them moving up further.
    • I just genuinely think they don't understand technology and its felt like this since the invention of the internet.   Also see say a speech on a Monday saying we want to be a world leader in "this thing" then on a Wednesday another speech saying "this thing" is bad and needs to be banned/regulated out of existance.
    • My party again had an outstanding 4 days in Barca. We made the right call to leave the festival site early at about 10.30 on Thursday to get ourselves some excellent steaks in the city. I am with everyone that the organization should have been clearer about what is going on and also if you would like to get rid of some attendees open more exits, they sent us from gate to gate until we finally were able to get out. Biggest 'disappointment' was the beer price, a YoY increase from 5 to 6 is absolutely nuts!!! (i am living in Switzerland so me making this comment says something 🙂)   Top 10:   1. Men I Trust 2. Role Model (could have been first as well, what a great artist and great songs) 3. The XX 4. The cure (the last 90 minutes) 5. Gorillaz 6. MBV 7. Ninajirachi (another big miss of the organization, clearly on the wrong podium and wonder if Olivia's surprise set had something to do with that and they had to reschuffle late the Occident, Cupra and Port schedules) 8. NewDad 9. Big Thief 10. Annastashia      We did 3 years Barca now and for next year looking at the Porto or Bilbao festivals as an option.
    • Personally if it was me now, I would be grabbing a green camping ticket with the knowledge closer when I've refreshed that I can still choose general if I want to....you can't do the opposite!    I would say if you are happy to watch your headliners and big bands further back to be able to see who you actually plan to later then yes it is fine. Its a much difference experience to any other festival especially food wise and camping surrounds.    Once you're in the arena as well you're not going back unless you've got a gap. If I go again I'll be going with the option of not trying to push the front and enjoying further back as you actually put too much pressure on it than the time take away can forget to enjoy other acts.
