Who do you want on the poster (other than the Pyramid Headliners)?

Somewhat realistic:

Pulp
Killers (although it would likely be a secret set, so not on the poster)
Avril Lavigne
Doja Cat
Holly Humberstone
Olivia Dean
Patti Smith
LCD Soundsystem
Justice
Bloc Party

Less realistic:

Stevie Nicks (don't trust the info based on the source of it - a FB message or something like that)
Billy Joel
Vampire Weekend (less realistic due to the exclusivity tag)

Unrealistic:

Olivia Rodrigo
Green Day (again, if anything it would be a secret set - but it won't be happening)
Father John Misty
The Mountain Goats

My less likely wish list also includes:

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Stevie Nicks, Chemical Brothers, Two Feet

My deeply unrealistic hopes and dreams comprise:

Tool, Metallica (Churnups slot)

Can they risk having someone like Metallica in the Churnups slot? Surely the general punter doesn't know enough of their songs.

You'd have a mass emptying of the Pyramid which could pose a safety risk.

Is this a wind up? Metallica, one of the biggest bands there's ever been..?

I'm well into my music and I think I could just name Enter Sandman.

Think I speak for me, my mates and a lot of other people in their early 20s if we were waiting for a band to show up and the Metallica logo came up we'd all be going straight away.

Not disputing they aren't huge but I feel as though they have a direct audience. I just think Foos worked because they're more mainstream. I reckon the Churnups type slots should be saved for those type of bands such as the Killers, maybe Green Day, Pulp to an extent.

i always wonder who it is that is actually going to Metallica shows these days?

i mean, don't get me wrong, i like the first four albums as much as the next guy, and i even like the Black album (and, controversially, i'll even admit that i like the Black album more than Kill 'em All).

but Metallica have not released anything good since 1991.

in all my years of going to metal gigs - i have never, EVER spoken to anyone, at all, EVER that says they actually like anything they have released since then.

so who is going to these shows?

If I had to guess I'd say Metallica fans.

EDIT: This sounded less c**tier in my head, sorry. You could say the same of The Stones, GNR, U2, Eagles etc but they still fill stadiums because they have classic material in their back catalogue that transcends generations.

I've had the same thoughts over the years.  Album quality definitely tailed off after Justice/Black Album and everyone of my pals (including a good few metalheads) think the same.
