This is a great take. The measure I use is “can I name some songs”. Until now there hasn’t been a single Pyramid headliner in the 15 years I have been attending that I haven’t been able to name multiple songs for. Even the many that I didn’t see. In SZAs case I legit can’t name one. So from this I infer that a) im getting old b) streaming metrics mean nothing to me.

I would really enjoy ORod and want this to be true. But, it’s pretty hard to ignore that SZA is playing BST on Glasto weekend.. and that the reason Glasto hasn’t announced yet could very well be because BST needs to shift those tickets which only just went on sale. Much as im not into it personally, SZA feels like a lock.

Epic show. Loved it! A but unsure how it would translate to a big field like the Other Stage. They are big enough and absolutely good enough to headline it… but it just feels more like a Woodsies sized show to me. A difficult one to place but they will be excellent if they do turn up.

I’m off to see them tonight! Will view the show with ‘would this be Other Stage headline worthy?’ in the back of my mind.

My somewhat realistic wish list of non Pointy Stage headliners is: Bicep, Two Door Cinema Club, The Streets, Chase and Status Live, Elbow, The Smile, Justice. My less likely wish list also includes: Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Stevie Nicks, Chemical Brothers, Two Feet My deeply unrealistic hopes and dreams comprise: Tool, Metallica (Churnups slot)

It wouldn’t necessarily need to be a tour. I think that in 2011 she did Glasto and T in the Park only. I think her Coachella performance was bespoke as well rather than part of a wider tour. 100% isn’t happening at this late stage when the headliners seem lined up already. But she’s the kind of artist that would make it happen despite the logistics if she really wanted to.

Would love this! Elbow are always a treat at Glastonbury and can make the undercard quite strong. They were third down on the Pyramid in 2022 and could see them in a similar slot again.
