Is Fred nailed on ? Has he already peaked ? If he is I want him to have a big crowd as it makes the rest of the site easier to move around but the new album doesn't seem to have great reviews

I think he's shite but I don't want another sza situation

What SZA situation?  On the Sunday night half the festival went home and - Justice aside - the rest of the sit was like a ghost town.

I’d accept that. A Scottish Aussie band😉

😄 ok, if you like!

Fremantle's a bloody lovely place, ive spent a fair bit of time there. Australia's really proud of AC/DC, in Melbourne there's an area called ACDC Lane and you can head down St Kilda and have a beer in a couple of the haunts they used to play in years ago - and the video for Its a long way to the top is filmed on Swanston Street in Melbourne, i used to live about two minutes walk from it. I'd go as far as to say its Australia's number 1 export to the world, and its at best 50% theirs ☺️

Glade was busy and SE Corner was, I was off the belief that London Grammar did okay and The National? Avalon was rammed for The Feeling...if they hadn't played who I was fairly sure I was going to watch I'd have left after Nia Archives.

Ah - OK. Sorry. Crossed wires on my side.

Yes - they'll be keen not to repeat that, but I reckon Fred will be busy enough.

Yeah I think that was the reason everywhere was quieter because none of the headliners appealed to the majority. I had a great time watching The National but I think the crowd only went up to the sound stages

It will be decently busy but not insane by any means.

Similar to Dua maybe a tad quieter

Was at The National.  Can confirm, it was not like a ghost town.  I was down the front but looking back it looked like a really decent crowd.

The post yesterday is all fairly believable. Except for B-Witched.

It’s either kosher or written by a complete virgin from another site.

My guess is the latter.

The acts are just what people are talking about on here

The inclusion of forum sweethearts Little Simz and IDLES makes me think its an alt to be honest

Clearly no actual info there - can't believe how seriously it was taken

I'll admit to being intrigued.  When roughbloke showed up two years back and gave us Elton and GnR plenty of folk scoffed at it - to the extent he now takes his info elsewhere.

Not sure he was that arsed about being scoffed at, think he left for other reasons!

Didn't she just say they were hopeful of getting her again at some point.

Pre-submit, found the quote:

"I think we’ve got Taylor on board next time she’s doing some touring. We would love to have her back, obviously.”

Doesn't really suggest they've been in talks

The post said they haven’t spoken to Taylor since the cancellation… do t k ow how Emily would be confident they’ve got her on board if they haven’t spoken to her.

In terms of living and reasonable headliner acts, yes. Madonna and Taylor want fees that are too high, the Eavises reportedly hate RHCP after they pulled out and won’t book them again, AC/DC would have done it by now. Bands like the Eagles have passed their time at this point, nobody would watch them headline.

So yeah Gaga and Eminem are the two biggest American gets the festival can still feasibly achieve, they have huge popularity and cross generational appeal. I guess maybe Green Day or the Weeknd but they don’t have the same level of stardom and legend status as Gaga and Eminem

the last really big legendary American acts they haven’t had” and “the two biggest American gets the festival can feasibly achieve” are clearly two totally different things. Hence my questioning.

The Eagles would pull a massive crowd, that ain’t why they’re not playing.

The idea of The Weeknd not having the same level of stardom as Gaga is laughable, and I’m a massive Gaga fan.

And let’s not even start on where AC/DC come from…

    • Bit of a rogue one but when Nightwish went on their hiatus a few years ago they didn't rule out doing shows for their 30th anniversary which is next year    Would be a perfect sub for someone like Deftones or even System
    • With 20 euro discount if booked via Revolut too.
    • Yeah, surprisingly no increase from this year
    • its diabolical already 😞 .... The refs should have walked out in solidarity
    • The main problem with these is that noone really predicts the shocks that happen in the early knockouts or quarters, so it inevitably gets to like what I put in the semis (France v Spain and Eng vs Arg). You always end up with 4/6 of the top sides reaching the semis, and this is with me 'predicting' Swiss to beat Portugal.   I think we will see a shock result against a top 5-6 team of an African/Asian side knocking a favourite out, and I can see one of the big guns resting heavily for a 3rd group game and ending up 2nd place in their group, which would throw these whole brackets out of whack.   I think the main interesting thing from the brackets, is that if you're only caring about 'likely' group winners, you have France/Spain/Germany/Belgium/Netherlands (who I'm not convinced top group F, that group seems v exciting to me), all on one side of the bracket. Albeit the other side is England/Brazil/Arg/Portugal, but the European giants do seem weighted towards one half.   'best 3rd place' is very hard to call, I suspect there might be 1 or 2 who get 6 points (tied with 2nd) but are there on goal difference/head to head, while others could be on 3 or even 2 points. I also don't actually know if a bunch of these middle-Eastern teams who I've predicted to finish bottom are that bad. I think the ConCaCaf lot who've qualified partially by virtue of the 3 strongest teams all being hosts probably are 0-1 point teams mostly, but I wonder if there's some near-Asian teams I'm underestimating.   I'm honestly really excited though.
