So we are all agreed on Pulp il text Emily to let her. know 😉

It makes sense. Though they wouldn’t let any of their TRNSMT 2024 set go out on the BBC, so would we hit the same problem as Young?

Newspaper column inches devoted to explaining to their geriatric readership what Brat Summer was.

Oof, that cuts deep. But I’m ok because I often wear jeans that don’t fit and I’ve never worn a bra 🤘

I think Pulp would be more inclined to negotiate/cave than Neil Young on this though, British acts respect Glasto on a whole different level I think.

Charli XCX would kill it but she's just not there size wise.

Can't even sell out her APE day with solid support and a fair price in East London!!

This is what I can’t get over. She’d be great but don’t think she’s got the appeal people think.

Lido is 25,000 and not sold out. Yes she had the O2 just before, but Fontaines sold out 45,000 tickets at Finsbury at a similar ticket price and had multiple nights at Ally Pally around the same time.

Happy New Year all 🙂

Great to see some movement on this again! Some people thought we knew all 3 headliners in December, based on whispers overheard by those in the know.  This goes to show that, however well placed such sources are, they are often wrong or lack details on the contract and negotiations.

Remember, everything's just a rumour until it's confirmed by the festival!

Agree with this...  in my mind, there's a risk of pyramid tumbleweed 2 years in a row leading into the fallow and that's a risk the festival are not going to want to take.

Or its the exact opposite and the events of the last 24 hours show that the rumours regarding Neil Young were on the money.

Depends on where the rumours were from, of course. Plenty claimed they were “locked in” and look a bit foolish right now 😂

I think both can be true ... headliners not locked in but info accurate but can be subject to change , we dont know for sure until all the final stuff completely done and locked in . Does add a bit of excitement to this thread though 🙂

This... Neil has pretty clearly said that they were lined up and looking forward to it, until the beeb's demands came to light.

So obviously the info was good, but it just isn't to be.

But that's exactly what Stuie is getting at, a rumour is just a rumour, even if it has meat, things can and often do, change.

Except that guy who mocked the idea that nothing is official until it’s contractually locked, because… guess what happened.

Because we tend not to have blow by blow fly on the wall access to contract negotiations...

Neiler himself says he was going to play it.

Edit. As pointed out by Alvoram

My point being there was at least one person (not you) who spat his dummy when it was suggested by others that info isn’t locked until the festival announce it, so convinced he was by his ‘sources’. Even if the info was true at the time, the principle is ultimately more true, as has been proven.

It’s all a rumour mill until the fest say otherwise 👍

"That rumour that has now been publicly confirmed to have been 100% correct at the time was totally wrong!"

Utter nonsense. Read before you smug-post.

So, it was a rumour of a discussion that came to nothing.  We can only guess how many of those Glasto have every year.

The “you can’t discuss headliners until their feet are physically on the stage and they’re four songs deep” brigade are incredibly dull at this point.

Not as dull as the brigade who try to cancel all conversations about rumours because their source of choice demands certain acts are locked in. They’d have us demand to keep our mouths shut about anybody who’d challenge Neil Young.

You're criticising something that doesn't exist.
