Bold statement:

Other than dedicated fans of the individual artists, your average festival goer could not name 5 songs by any of Olivia, The 1975, or Neil Young. Further to that, they could not name 5 songs between them.

I really don't know what naming songs has to do with whether an act could or should headline Glastonbury or not.

Most attendees couldn't name 5 Cure songs, 5 Springsteen songs, 5 Radiohead songs, 5 Kendrick Lamar songs, 5 Billie Eilish songs or 1 SZA song - the list goes on. It doesn't matter.

He is who he is, and he has the status he has.

Although i fully agree with a majority of the above, he has been mentioned in the same breath as Bowie and Elton John over the past 10 pages or so,

I'm pretty sure most people could name multiple songs by Bowie and Elton. You only have to go through the list of acts on the top 40 list above (in terms of "Legendary acts") and Neil Young is likely to be close to the bottom in terms of "well known songs" despite his rightful "Legendary" status.

It doesn't change the fact he will and should headline if he is there..........its just simple facts that people generally do not know his back catalogue or "hits" as much as other "legendary acts" or current artists.

Hopefully if he does headline  -  it gets people listening to his albums which are all pretty much superb.

There are some wild shouts on that list. Lennon's solo work at 38 ahead of Bowie?!

i know! I Nirvana is probably my favorite band, but in no way are they better than Bowie.

I suppose these lists are made to generate conversation and clicks

Bad enough I get a celebrity gossip video widget on this site that repeatedly includes things about that arse and his family, including one today from his visit to the Notre Dame re-opening over the weekend.

yeah, but if he did headline you'd be there right? I know I would. I'd have to see him doing weird sh*t dance rather than that brat charli person gyrating and smoking under a shower. If it's Neil Young then I might have to go with Ms xcx.

I'm not going Glastonbury so if it was on TV, I'd just watch something else.

OK, again, Olivia, Sam Fender, 1975, Fred Again, what you've said applies to them too, word for word.

I don't think you need to labour this point specifically for Neil. Noone was comparing him as an equal to Bowie or Elton.

Apparently, according to the other place beginning with a d (wink wink), my bloody valentine were supposed to headline the other stage on the Friday but for whatever reason, have since dropped out so yungblud is now replacing them.

wtf. The 1975 or Yungblud?

I think I'll be at croissant neuf.

Completely fake news I’m afraid.

We’ve never had any into on MBV and whilst we do have Yungblud listed as a rumour, that came from efests in the first place and is stated as such

Had a Quick look through your posting history and all you’ve done is post incorrect rumours citing OOF as your source. @Alvoram might be worth looking into this poster as incorrectly trying to stir between the two platforms

    • How much is Burnham's success down to Manchester getting a shitton of investment for public transport infrastructure?   There's no doubt he did the work, but the money dumped into Manchester for him to achieve that was huge - the most of any infrastructure project outside London ever. Did that need a mayor, or just the money?
    • Sounds good tbh.
    • Bristol was the only city in 2012 that voted for a mayor. We had a local independent who was popular, then Marvin Rees won and was so corrupt that Bristol voted to get rid of the position - having just had the WECA mayor position put in place as well.
    • They built a watering system and have been watering the island for the past few weeks to reduce dust, but given the current drought, there will still be dust. They will cover twice as much ground around the main stage with those plastic panels as they did before. They couldn't book Gogol Bordello because the singer was afraid the government would allow Russian security services to capture him if he entered the country. They didn't have much room to be selective about artists. They booked whoever they could get. This year's Sziget will be only about 50% of his original vision. He wanted a dedicated rock stage. They are preparing for a loss of 1.5 billion HUF this year. For some reason, student tickets are not selling in the numbers they had expected. He said that when he talks about the lineup being less important, he doesn't mean Sziget should have a weaker lineup than Primavera. Rather, it should have a similarly strong lineup combined with much more non-musical programming, so people from abroad come here to see the same artists but have a completely different overall experience. He didn't miss Sziget and originally wanted to spend no more than two days a week dealing with it, but now he's working on it full-time and has handed over control of the rest of his businesses.
    • Well the point seems to be 22.7% turn out doesn't suggest the majority are rushing out to support the mayoral system.
