Headliners 2023

If we're talking comparisons I'd say The Stone Roses is the closest  - were huge for a short period then largely went away for ages, back with original line-up, not known for their live (vocal) performances. Never at Glastonbury but Stone Roses were undoubtedly headliners when they first toured again.

Neil, are you just upset that the GnR info was clearly out there for ages and nobody told you? I mean, it was posted on here a long, long time before you had it.

Is that what this is about?

its about them being shit; fed up with bullshit like that to avoid facing up to how shit they are.

Well at least we have it pretty well sewn up now and we can make peace or not with it …  it will likely be my chance to investigate the temple as hopefully the sec should be quieter at that point … I’m still stoked about Elton  . So at least that’s one amazing act in the bag

It’s not making things up, it’s hypothesising.

Don’t worry, when you’re swimming around in a big vault of money like Scrooge McDuck you’ll look back on this and laugh.

i'm laughing already

Seems nailed on now, doesn't it?

GnR not my cup of tea anymore, teenage me might have been excited. Do enjoy a headliner that gives me freedom to not be locked on the Pyramid every night, as usually get a lot of FOMO.

Probably there for Elton, rest is pretty wide open still.

Imo, reckon field will be as busy as the Foos, but not more.

Such an absolutely cringe booking that feels bizarre coming from Emily who is normally right on the pulse (IMO), but at least it sounds like Guns get the significance of it - I hope they do well for those that will be there.

It's extremely weird

Jesus, way too much to say based on that info. Lawyers!!!! Get out of work mode!

You two are a great double act in a not great way.

That's a pretty good way to convince yourself of any band though.

I'm not a lawyer. I was inferring what one would say. Pipe down.

For all the whinging it's pretty similar to Radiohead - Foos - Sheeran, and that went down very well.

These are different times.  That was before she set out to explicitly achieve a more balanced festival - "the aim is that you're conscious of that when you're booking".

Plenty of slots to balance that out though.

I’m pretty sure the world is largely the same now as it was in 2017. Adele was  booked the year before.

A bit miffed that people think one of the biggest rock bands of all time playing the biggest music festival of all time is weird.

i wouldn't think it was weird if it had happened 20 years ago, its 2023 that makes it weird.

The Who, Paul McCartney, The Rolling Stones, Metallica and The Cure have all headlined in the past decade. Not exactly vital, fresh new sounds coming from El Pointo every night.

    • Not necessarily but it should be, Download have a habit of messing it uo when others get the bookings on point. Good Charlotte I doubt are playing 3rd down and that too 3 that day while dreamy is too strong. I think you'd have one another day to help sell weekend tickets. I also doubt Papa Roach play.
    • Here's a bit of a wild stab, few placings may be off, and for all I know half of these won't actually be touring next year, but screw it, it's a bit of fun   Pyramid: Sabrina Carpenter, Phoebe Bridgers, TBA (Florence + The Machine), Garbage, The Last Dinner Party, Interpol, Alex James Britpop Classical Other: Chase & Status, Teddy Swims, Clairo, The Kooks, Zara Larsson, Kingfishr, Sports Team, Orbital West Holts: Robyn, Baby Keem, De La Soul, Deltron 3030, JID, Dua Saleh, kwn, Daniela Latila Woodsies: Bonobo, Darkside, TBA (Tame Impala), Laufey, Warmduscher, Wednesday, The Lottery Winners, The Royston Club, Florence Road Park: Patti Smith, Super Furry Animals, Slayyyter, The Cardigans, Skye Newman, Kelly Lee Owens, Teen Jesus & The Jean Teasers   Pyramid: Harry Styles, The xx, Richard Ashcroft, The Pogues, Jessie J, Sigrid, Travis Other: Rosalia, Sombr, Mitski, Alex Warren, Holly Humberstone, Cat Burns, Pale Waves, Yard Act West Holts: Basement Jaxx, Elyanna, Clipse, L’Imperatrice, Nation of Language, Jim Legxacy, Yazmin Lacey, RIP Magic Woodsies: Suede, Chvrches, Bleachers, MUNA, The Cribs, Keo, Bleech 9:3, The Lilacs Park: MARINA, Magdalena Bay, Jacob Alon, TBA (Lily Allen performs West End Girl), Getdown Services, Isaac Wood, Snail Mail, Madra Salach Pyramid: Sam Fender, Hozier, David Byrne, Cher, Obongjayar, David Gray, Billy Ocean Other: Doja Cat, Deftones, Addison Rae, Ren, Viagra Boys, Maisie Peters, The Reytons, Hard Life West Holts: Kano, Thievery Corporation, Angine De Poitrine, Thee Sacred Souls, Brooke Combe, Sasha Keable, Master Peace Woodsies: The Wombats, Metronomy, Geese*, Dry Cleaning, EsDeeKid, Sienna Spiro, Cowboy Hunters, Radio Free Alice Park: Big Thief, Laura Marling, MJ Lenderman, Richard Dawson, Oklou, Maruja, Dead Dads Club, Ratboys   *There's always one band booked for Woodsies that ends up being massively under-billed and gets shut down really early. They'd be better off playing somewhere like Other sub, but I could see the G getting them to play a smaller stage while it's still possible
    • Another Kraftwerk one for me today, as just back from seeing them.
    • Completed my 2026 survey. Put down Super Furry Animals as my most wanted for next year but suspect the moment has gone for that. Popped a big shopping list in the box for who else you would like to see. 🙂
