In the flooding year and the really muddy years. Was it plain to see in the run up it was going to be bad

2016 it rained for the few weeks leading up to the festival, then the forecast the week before looked like it was gonna clear up, then by the Tuesday night it just rained and didnt stop all wednesday. By that point the ground had absolutely no chance.

The new GFS run is well under way. Not in the festival timeframe yet.

But these charts for Wednesday 15th are a good indicator of how much more certainty there is within a 5-day window.

Left is the second-last run, right is the latest run.

It’d already been raining for a week or so at this point and wasn’t letting up, so it was pretty clear the ground was going to be a swamp. We’d need pretty apocalyptic rain for it to get that bad on a bone dry site.

Even the worst gfs runs only looked like a few cm if I’m reading them right? Ground should be totally fine.

Gonna storm innit

Tuesday: 0.0mm (day) / 0.3mm (night)
Wednesday: 0.3mm (day) / 0.0mm (night)
Thursday: 1.1mm (day) / 0.3mm (night)
Friday: 0.7mm (day) / 0.2mm (night)
Saturday: 4.7mm (day) / 0.0mm (night)
Sunday: 2.7mm (day) / 9.0mm (night)

Aside from Sunday night, that’s not too bad. Saturday morning equates to 2 hours of rain.

AccuWeather adding an extra day on rain on the festival, if I am not wrong before they were giving two.

Yes they are, but if you look at what they are referring to as rain there, it's very low amounts. 0.7mm on Thursday, 0.8 on friday, 2.8 on Saturday. Only the Saturday one is of any consequence.

I'd be really curious how the site today would cope with 2005 like conditions. Remember those pictures of a lake full of tents? That's now a massive ditch that will drain the water away rapidly. Now it's not as if everything would be fine, but it would be much, much better.

And the other stage field / lake also has new drainage
