No Macca?

Nope. They also have Gaga at 7-1, Fleetwood Mac 8, Abba 12 and Oasis 14.

But all a puff piece article, the link to Betfair just takes you to sign up offers but nothing actually on the site about Glastonbury.

Or they just won’t change the whole lineup because Taylor Swift isn’t playing like I said the other day 😂

What is with the crazy idea that Taylor would have changed things so bad?

She's not the biggest thing they've ever gone for. It's not like accommodating The Stones.

Hmm but we don’t know who was subbing Swift and it could have been a special guest (like some are saying Mumford).

Here’s a wild suggestion.

Kendrick closes the night, but before him we get an exclusive surprise set from one of Foo Fighters, Coldplay, Mumford & Sons, or heck even Adele.

Would a surprise set from Adele to promote the new album be that crazy? Even when she’s playing places like BST supposedly instead of stadiums etc. A summer televised show for the BBC in the bag there…

This is the kind of post where we blow the Oompa Loompa whistle and have you escorted from the thread.

It was a wild suggestion at first but the more I think about Adele being a special sub the more sense it makes to me. Especially if this comeback tour she’s planning is going to be wild as it is - Vegas Shows, BST and strange one off performances. I think a few people here will brush it to one side because she’s not a fan favourite in this forum but I’d say there’s more chance of her doing a surprise show than other possibilities.

It's my disinterest in Adele's music that is holding me back from considering her as a secret subheadliner, yes.

This has got to be up there with some of the most bizarre claims on this board. Adele comes back, after smashing a headline performance, mass clamour for new music, and she subs?

In a year where a literal download festival headliner and one of the biggest American rock bands of all time is making their Glastonbury debut as a (supposed) unannounced set. Is it really that bizarre to say a “child of the festival” as Emily quoted herself wouldn’t want to do a special set to promote her comeback?

If you don’t like Adele that’s fine but I wouldn’t put her in the category of a money grabbing artist who makes diva demands at the festival. Seems the inverse. She says she’s attended every year and it’s one of the most important things to her in her life. She even said to the BBC she wants the festival to be as special for her son as it was for her.

Mad to think we’ve only had three festivals since the last utterly mental “Adele is going to sub” shout.

It would be a full circle moment if it happened though. A silent wink from Emily to efestivals.

I'm a fan of Adele, so let's not use that as an excuse for thinking its a bit of a silly claim. A special set doesn't mean a sub appearance 3 festivals after she headlined. A secret set would make more sense than a sub appearance and I still wouldn't think that is likely. Let's way up her love of the festival with the fact she really had to be talked into headlining by Emily in the first place. It's a nice thought, but never going to happen.

I love how, within the space of a few minutes, you effectively said she’s one of the biggest artists in the world, but then also subbing Glastonbury.

Never change you crazy fucker!

Adele is a bit of a fibber. She knows the story of her “not wanting to do it but being convinced” makes a good headline. She’s said a few things since that have cast doubt on that story. She has also said she wanted to headline in 2014 and/or 2015 but her album wasn’t ready / she was having a child. “I’d be too scared to do it” was always a way to try and throw people off the scent. She’s good at hoodwinking people to believe she can’t handle gigantic crowds and won’t play big shows. Her touring history says otherwise.

She has even said in the past that she would never tour again and then a few weeks later announced a world tour. She does have a track record of graciously lying to her fans. She even said she wouldn’t make another album or retire after 25.

If she was playing a special guest slot I can imagine it being left off the poster and probably put as a TBA right up until she hits the stage. Or she’d get her own special announcement. Right now she’s one of the biggest artists on the planet who has done everything she could possibly do. One thing that does seem true is she likes the idea of special shows and appearances.

Do you think I mean she would be subbing because she’s not big enough to headline? Because that’s not what I’m saying? I was looking at the chance of her doing a special slot at her favourite festival for her comeback.

She can be both the biggest act in the world and do a one off surprise appearance. People here have suggested it for Coldplay millions of times.

Said this in another thread but I’m wondering if Kendrick will actually be on the Sunday, and because he will play a shorter than usual set (as he typically does) they could squeeze another big act below him. Maybe a bigger than usual sub on the Sunday?

Guess that would open it up to someone like Mumford or whatever. Are the Foos busy on the Sunday?

Pet Shop Boys? Keep the locals sweet. Maybe Dua Lipa would work.

(not up to date on the current goss, thought these were both in the Other Stage running, don't really remember tho)

    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
