2022 Headliners

I just don’t think Glastonbury have cojones to book those three headliners in the same year.

Yeah, I’m advocating for two women/non guitar acts topping the bill, but it would have to be alongside a Macca/Coldplay type at this stage. And that’s fair, tbh. I’m all for rebalancing the genres at Glastonbury, but it’s only fair to keep one guitar act topping the bill.

I can definitely see Emily really pushing for two women though.

I genuinely think Emily has done it and those are our headliners. Kendrick looks to be rebooking his June commitments, Taylor is dying to be back, and Billie has to be there with her tour dates. It makes no logical sense for Kendrick or Taylor not to be the first ones back.

I wonder if Macca has lost interest after the long wait.

People will have things to say but Kendrick, Billie Eilish, Taylor Swift, Diana Ross at the top of the bill is really really exciting.

I must add it’s fucking ace to have some genuine news to speculate about.

On a Friday night as well. Gives us something else to talk about rather than just over analysing tomorrow night’s stream.

Are there any other big European festivals she could play on Glastonbury weekend? I’m probably missing something obvious but I’m struggling to think of any given both Rock Werchter and Lollapalooza Stockholm are the first weekend in July next year.

I think people want it back that much they won't give a shit. And if I'm perfectly honest a huge crowd out there will lap up Billie at Glastonbury more than Kendrick.

For the general goer that say isn't bothered massively either way, I think they give Billie a bit of though, I would. Kendrick many would divert.

Secret Solstice and Tinderbox. Roskilde usually happens the weekend after too.

Interesting change from yesterday when you were saying that it was the festival who had lost interest in Macca

Can't keep pace with him tbh. Although I will say Kendrick, Billie, Taylor and Di Ross wouldn't go down well I don't think.

Trying to wrap my head around a top bill of

Kendrick Lamar
Billie Eilish
Taylor Swift
Diana Ross
Aerosmith
Lana Del Rey
Dua Lipa
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
HAIM.

... I feel absolutely sick with excitement.

Roskilde doesn't really kick off until after Glastonbury but wouldn't be surprised if she played there too.

Tinderbox seems like a decent shout but it's a big gap, plenty of time to play somewhere on the Friday and Sunday.

Anything suggesting LDR is back in the frame?

Genuine question, what's the info that suggests Taylor is dying to be back?

Taylor herself has referenced Glastonbury a few times since it was cancelled. Obviously very much on her radar still.

Folk may be barking up the wrong tree here, myself included.....but there's a sense that she 'gets it'. It's not just a.n. other stop on the circuit.

    • its diabolical already 😞 .... The refs should have walked out in solidarity
    • The main problem with these is that noone really predicts the shocks that happen in the early knockouts or quarters, so it inevitably gets to like what I put in the semis (France v Spain and Eng vs Arg). You always end up with 4/6 of the top sides reaching the semis, and this is with me 'predicting' Swiss to beat Portugal.   I think we will see a shock result against a top 5-6 team of an African/Asian side knocking a favourite out, and I can see one of the big guns resting heavily for a 3rd group game and ending up 2nd place in their group, which would throw these whole brackets out of whack.   I think the main interesting thing from the brackets, is that if you're only caring about 'likely' group winners, you have France/Spain/Germany/Belgium/Netherlands (who I'm not convinced top group F, that group seems v exciting to me), all on one side of the bracket. Albeit the other side is England/Brazil/Arg/Portugal, but the European giants do seem weighted towards one half.   'best 3rd place' is very hard to call, I suspect there might be 1 or 2 who get 6 points (tied with 2nd) but are there on goal difference/head to head, while others could be on 3 or even 2 points. I also don't actually know if a bunch of these middle-Eastern teams who I've predicted to finish bottom are that bad. I think the ConCaCaf lot who've qualified partially by virtue of the 3 strongest teams all being hosts probably are 0-1 point teams mostly, but I wonder if there's some near-Asian teams I'm underestimating.   I'm honestly really excited though.
    • Early Bird tickets at €245 if you’ve been this year.
    • €225 plus fees (as a 2026 ticketholder and with Revolut) is a crazy good deal.
    • I don't think PJ has as much broad appeal in the UK as GNR has. Rock listeners will know Alive and Jeremy so on, but which songs would a random person off the street know? With GNR you have Welcome To The Jungle, Sweet Child O Mine and Paradise City to name a few.
