Yeah I thought this a few weeks ago - when it came out about the Indian variant it was 36-37year olds or something, when it would've made so much more sense to go after those who'll be more likely to be going back to work in indoor settings or simply just socialising more. Spread the protection among groups once everyone is at similar risk levels, not just tightly focused age groups

Does your friend envisage a change  in policy when we get to under 30s? It does seem to be pointing that way

They went down from 32/31 to 30 a lot quicker than I’ve been waiting for it go to 29!!!!

Right there with you! Had a bet that missus and I would be booking our vaccine by the end of may...hours to go and think I’ve lost that one!

She's speaking a lot about closing the borders, I'd argue that's a pretty big restriction put in place

Wanting and needing something are different though, she doesn't want any restrictions but recognises that we mighty need some due to various matters. (Sorry if that comes across as patronising, I didn't intend it to).

Pagel keeps talking about modelling even tho the trajectory we are on is way lower than even the most optimistic Sage modelling.

Yup. Almost like they were planning to call for more restrictions with ANY rise...

ok...yeah, fair enough. I actually agree with her, not sure we should be helping to spread the Indian variant to countries which have had a lower vaccine rollout.

I agree on borders too .... the longer we have the high numbers the longer it continues ... 😞 and the longer indi sage talk about varients .... i remember a few weeks back when it was talked about that  some efest members clearly wanted lockdowns .... I dont actually think anyone does ....

Strange how the panic flapping and screeching about the Indian variant continues to intensify. The fact that nearly half of the adult population, including the vast bulk of the most vulnerable, have already been double jabbed counts for nothing. Once again, the more widespread the coverage afforded by the vaccines becomes, the more useless they are claimed to be.

no, it definitely counts...and at moment the roadmap is not changing...but the 4 tests at each stage include new variants...so, it will be included when they make decision what to do June 21st.

Disappeared from the news cause saying things are getting better doesn’t seem to get much attention these days. Media has been a disgrace throughout this.

That is their sole job though ... to generate income ... thats not a defence just a reality of the situation and im not sure that will ever change or has ever changed we just have the immediate internet news now  ... its still going to be horrendous out there and I doubt we will ever get the true numbers pretty grim really

it was news, they were in a crisis...now they're not, so it isn't news. No news is good news. Always been like that, no matter what the crisis.

To be fair the fact it was used to terrify us that we could end up the same, which didn't seem possible  with our number of vaccines, does sort of warrant some follow up pieces

They used absolute numbers for there without ever showing the context that we were always much worse per capita
