I had a feeling we would be looking at the back end of April rather than the start from some of the recent noises about "Moderna have confirmed they are definitely delivering in April as planned". Was suspiciously low of detail.

Any idea on yields?

Quite from their article:

“The imminent arrival of more than 500,000 doses of the new US vaccine – to add to millions of Pfizer and Oxford-AstraZeneca shots – will herald the expansion of the programme to the under-50s.

Doctors are expected to administer the first Moderna jabs within three weeks.”

A year ago I wondered whether this pandemic would lead to a change in cultural in Britain. The clapping for the NHS gave me hope that we would have a more empathetic and forgiving society, but the alternative was that it would lead to greater selfishness and what’s in it for me culture.

I think I now know were it is going to go. Just finished my latest shift as a stewarding volunteer at a vaccination centre, and we are suddenly having to challenge younger people who have falsely claimed that they are carers or have an underlying medical condition. This followed a social media blitz that highlighted the vaccination centre as being an "easy target" for people wanting to get under the wire and book appointments. The extent today was 40-50 people being rejected because they were not eligible out of 800 appointments, I had discussions with people arguing things like, the link was on mumsnet, my wife got jabbed two days ago and she was not eligible. My social skills prevented me from screaming " your are lying to skip the queue and have no moral barometer to tell you it is wrong". I was told by the Ops Manager that the Police were called last night as things got so heated.

I know tightening supply and the hope of a return to normality is driving this, but a couple of weeks ago this felt like a rewarding thing to do, now feels like I am dealing with the worst of humanity.

I think they must be expecting similar things at the centre I volunteer at as they've really increased security. It was just one bloke when I first started (it is a small centre), think it was 4 or 5 during my last shift. Thankfully not seen anything like this though.

Hello folks! I’m a wee newbie but I work in the hospital. I’ve got me second jab on Tuesday. I’m unexpectedly dead excited about it although a wee bit anxious. Been told days off for side effects don’t count as sickness which is odd. I will report back!

Happy 3000 thread. At 3000 pages I still don’t understand why someone who doesn’t like this thread would come into anyway then post how they don’t like it whilst criticising people that do post in it. Just stay away if you know you don’t like the thread? 😂

Don’t forget many people only get mild symptoms.... hopefully that will be the same for you ... good luck .... I only know of 1 person that needed time off work and that was only 1 day ..,

Under 50s to get that quality Moderna stuff in a few weeks according to the daily bastard. Not fair! Bloody kids.

Why is it quality ...? Right up your street ?  Do people that have it come out smelling of roses ?

    • Another one from Sheffield DocFest this weekend, Earth Wind & Fire docu, directed by Questlove. Sensational archive footage, contributions from band members, family, plus a lot of very big fans (Stevie, Lionel, Flea, the Obamas) and a warts n all assessment of the genius / flawed human being that was Maurice White. Also, I never realised he started out as a jazz drummer with Ramsay Lewis. Well worth a watch.
    • In a 6,800-word Substack essay, external, the Clacton MP said "anti-white racism was embedded into the state", and that legislation aimed at equality was a form of "social cleansing"   .https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cdjkd4mp93zo   The privileged white c**t hasn’t got a clue what racism is.
    • BBC iPlayer: Will serve as the main hub for past sets, including both recent hits and iconic archival gems. You can explore the BBC iPlayer to watch curated compilations, "Best of Glastonbury" recaps, and on-demand replays of historic headline performances. [1, 2, 3] TV Broadcasts (BBC Two & BBC Three): The channels will air dedicated compilation shows. Leading up to the weekend, you can watch archive programming such as Glastonbury: 70s Legends, 80s Legends, and 90s Legends on BBC Two. [1] Radio & BBC Sounds: Pop-up Glastonbury radio stations on BBC Sounds will feature non-stop coverage, including exclusive mixes and huge sets from past years
    • Got HBO Max to watch football so watched One Battle After Another which is a great film and deserves its awards and then rewatched Magnolia and that is a flipping amazing film...so much in it. (also rewatching Angels In America series which is also amazing).
