Looks like someone shared something they shouldn't...

Please Note: The Vaccine is being rolled out in a controlled way and these links are INVITE ONLY and have been issued by the NHS Trust. Anyone booking an appointment who is not eligible and does not comply with the current NHS Eligibility requirements https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/coronavirus-vaccination/coronavirus-vaccine/ will not be seen.

That's just boilerplate text that has been on there since day one. The "invite" is coming via the Nottingham & Nottinghamshire CCG website and social media, which as of this morning is actively encouraging everyone over 40 to book and providing the links.

Given that they're the ones running the vaccination sites, I think you're maybe looking for a problem where one doesn't exist.

Or I just clicked the link and that is what comes up....

That text has been there all along. Normally you'd see a list of locations to book at below that, though it sounds like they're not showing for everyone because the system is overwhelmed (which is no surprise given that they've opened 3 groups at once).

I promise I'll say so if I get turned away later.

With Boris Johnson reportedly facing a rebellion from Tory MPs when the Commons votes on extending the current restrictions, one of the committee’s findings may be particularly problematic. It says the government has not provided enough evidence to justify the proposal in its roadmap to stop pubs and restaurants in England serving customers indoors, and indoor entertainment opening, until 17 May at the earliest. It says:

The hospitality and entertainment sectors have not seen sufficient data to underpin decisions relating to their industry. The evidence the committee received was inconclusive over whether restrictions on hospitality and entertainment sectors were sensible and indeed it is not the purpose of this report to come to a judgement on that. However, building trust with these sectors is absolutely essential and the level of transparency has not been sufficient.

PA Media reports:

Two doses of either the Pfizer/BioNTech or Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine offer similar protection against coronavirus as natural immunity after infection, new research suggests.

None of the 1,456 healthcare workers at Oxford University Hospitals (OUH) NHS Foundation Trust who had received two vaccines had a symptomatic infection when followed up more than 14 days after their second vaccination.

The study saw the same high level of protection in unvaccinated healthcare workers who had contracted Covid-19 naturally.

They had 98% fewer symptomatic infections than unvaccinated individuals who had not been infected before, researchers say. Most of the healthcare workers in the study had only received one vaccine to date.

According to the research, protection against symptomatic infection was at 67% after a first dose of vaccine, which was received by 11,023 hospital staff.

In total, 13,109 OUH healthcare workers have participated in the study of symptomatic and asymptomatic staff.Of these, 8,285 have received the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine (1,407 of them two doses), and 2,738 the Oxford/AstraZeneca jab (49 of them receiving both doses).

Someone should show this to Boris so we can get the pubs open outside for the Easter bank hol

You can still drink outdoors, I’m planning on doing that with some friends for their birthday over the Easter weekend. We’ll make a good day of it.

Someone will remind the covid death group about all the votes the tories will lose if they don't open up to the roadmap dates

Wasn’t Cheltenham mostly outdoors ?

The festival itself is outdoors, but the massive crowds that attended aren’t exactly famed for going straight back to their hotel room as soon as the last horse heads to the winners tent.

Most of the superspreading that week would have taken place in the local bars and clubs as opposed to the racetrack itself.

I don't know of any pubs with scope to accomodate 150,000 attendees so not really an argument?

Covid-19 risk was deemed moderate by scientists | News | The Times

The point I’m making here is that it still transmits outdoors ... and small groups of people close to each other in pub gardens drinking is likely to be a reason for increased rates ... it’s wether those people go on to become hospitalised if they haven’t yet had the  jab

They’ve settled for the halfway house for the bank holiday of outdoor socialising but not in hospitality which gives people the chance to see friends and have a drink but prevents the types of things that you outline.

I live in cheltenham as you know and Cheltenham town centre gets rammed you can't walk anywhere without hundreds of people blocking your way. The trainstation is even worse

I've been to Cheltenham on just normal race days and that's bad enough...I can imagine for the Gold Cup its complete mayhem.

I must admit apart from the masks in the audience the Grammys was a ceremony that looked pretty close to normal.

I imagine mandatory testing was involved before you could make an appearance?

its crazy! its like a normal night out with 40 x the usual amount of people. I live 300 metres away from the racecourse and for me to drive to partners house which is about a 8 minute drive usually, It can take over 2 hours in rush hour

Rather you than me, although I suspect you know what you're letting yourself in for when you buy a house that close! 🙂

Made the mistake of getting a train through Cheltenham once when the racing was on. The driver had to ask people to get off cos the train was too full to move!

    • Pretty sure some will be more than that.
    • It's a shame for lots of bands cancelling tours due to poor ticket sales but I'm one of the culprits as I'll wait now closer to the time as theres always a chance of a seat filler or Twickets for half the price. If the bands charged a reasonable price to start with then they'll sell out regardless. Look at Paul Heaton, £39+fees tickets for arenas where some bands are charing £150+fees for the same arena. Prices for drinks in those places is a joke too so many pick and choose.
    • Might just wait it out for the summer shows that got mentioned tbh
    • Good on him i think, though it depends on whether he really does love the music (like Steve Davis) or is just moving into it as a bizarre career option (Gok Wan, from the ten mins i observed from the side of a field once, stood there with no idea whats going on)
    • Better Man, Black maybe. I guess was the same for Metaliica.   They do have a history of bringing on some big guests, for example Pete Townsend and play Who numbers. My gut is they would prob pull it off but they'd get a section of crown leave after a bit. I don't see it happen even though I'd love it.    Other Stage would be immense.   I seem to remember Emily Eavis watching at a Wembley arena night and if it was regular gig with more random unknown fan favourite songs she saw she prob thought not suitable for Pyramid.
