Sorry if this has been asked recently, but what's our resident professor @Toilet Duck's view on this new strain? Is there really evidence it's more contagious, or is it just a marker for an area that was always going to see explosive growth given that hospitality was open during winter+Xmas shopping?

The virus seems more contagious everywhere

How’s everyone’s feelings on the incoming restrictions? I’m actually happy something is being done to control the virus at this crucial time but I’m not living in an area affected by these new restrictions and not a Christmas fan anyway so I know my feelings won’t be the same as many others.

Have a look a couple of pages back I posted a thread from a scientist on Twitter about the new strain you might find interesting. I'll try and find it again.

nervous tbh ...need to see what they are ....dont want non essential  retail  shutting as that will make supermarkets horrendous along with stockpiling for a no deal brexit 😞

It feels pretty depressing but not particularly a surprise and I think it's necessary. Imagine we will scrap the small Christmas plan we had to see relatives, although, like you I'm not a big Christmas fan and we are planning to have a nice day/s just the two of us (board games, food etc). But in general it all feels grim.

    • Audrey Hobert getting a lot of traction lately and new single on Friday. Wonder if she could be round next summer.
    • Think Pulp are optimistic, not in terms of size but just that they've been on the road (albeit not intensively) for 3 years in a row and it feels like EotR is the deliberate end of the cycle.   Would be fairly surprised if they're active next year.
    • 👍 plus they brought their own screens 📺 either side of the stage.
    • Production was the only thing that could even explain why she would back out. Like they had sorted out the financials and she was fine with it and then a production meeting happened. It all fell apart. It was very clear that she was not going to compromise her show one bit and then that show in Brazil pretty much confirmed it. There was like one element they couldnt pull off outdoors, but it was negligible since the rest was a carbon copy of the tour she had been on. Glasto is not willing to make any bold changes on the Pyramid stage so then theyre kinda stuck in terms of what some acts want/demand. I think the easiest solution to that is putting her on Friday. You deal with the changes for one night and then re configure for the rest of the weekend. In 24 they were fortunate to have had Dua and Coldplay on Fri and Sat so they could both use the b stage. But I think it was removed for Sunday?     I saw a random rag article earlier that said Olivia Dean turned down Glasto BECAUSE her ex ( not even confirmed dating ) Harry Styles was playing the fest. hahahaha
