I genuinely think a lot of people are past fearing the virus now. Those that don’t fall in the vulnerable category anyway. Back in March/April the fear was certainly there - hence the strict following of the lockdown restrictions.

We'll see...polls showed that a majority were in favour of not relaxing restrictions for christmas, and also were in favour of lockdown in the autumn....but then again maybe many people think other people's lives should be restricted rather than their own.

It's not necessarily a fear for ones own health, but for that of elderly members of family or society

I'd agree that I'm less sub-consciously fearful than I was (am happy to go out a bit when the rules allow it). However, the biggest deterrent at Xmas for me, and I'm sure a lot of people, is I don't want to give it to my parents/spread it around the country generally.

I think any changes to the lockdown rules would not have much effect. The people that would stick to the rules are those that are already planning on having a much smaller Christmas. 

People are sadly realising that the rules are generally unenforceable and they're the one's who will probably have a big Christmas regardless.

Sweden: No household mixing restrictions

 

Switzerland: 5 people from 2 households from 24-26 and on NYE

There is no possibility that false negatives could be reported is there?
