I am so lucky to have both my parents, they are 89 and live in rural Wales. We're doing supermarket runs for them every fortnight, leaving the goods on the front path and keeping our distance. But there's a independence issue going on, they are fiercely independent, they want to online shop but cannot, and here's why. First, they are not the fastest cats on the web - filling up the basket took them 2hrs, but there were no delivery slots at all. The one time they got one, they discovered that 2-factor authentication for their credit cards had not been set up and so lost the slot. I've set them up with skype and used MS Teams to run through the process with them - all to no avail. We will continue the food runs for them and they have wonderful neighbours who can help.

There must be many thousands of elderly in this situation, not able to fend for themselves for the first time ever. It's up to us to knock on a few doors and not just offer to help, but to understand their fear that this scary and not what they want. A card though the door is good, but a physically distant (not socially!!) conversation might be needed too.

Sorry if this is off topic a bit.

Don’t know if a click and collect option works ? But Asda gives you a decent amount of time once you have reserved the slot ... at least 3 hours ... and you collect from the back door ... so can avoid social contact as they will load it into car ... they are quite booked up .. about 10 days ish lead time

Thanks - that's very good to know. I did see that there were a few click/collect slots open for next week.

The earlier ones will get you more of what you Actually order ... as the shops arent open to the marauding hordes when these are picked .. good luck

Not really a support thing but...

Flatmate is moving out. Offered me his PS4 and a couple of games thrown in for £150.

Should I? I used to play a lot of videogames when i was younger but then haven't in the past few years, except for the odd game here and there. But I figured it could be a nice way to pass the time, especially as I'm stuck at home with no work to do.

I have been trying to do a when life gives you lemons attitude about this.

The absolute worst thing about it is I no longer have the excuse of not having enough time to keep on top of my housework so I am taking the opportunity to spend some time each day sorting stuff out. On nice days I have been doing that in the garden. We still have to walk the dogs so we are getting out each day to do that although as some people seem to have decreed it to be basically a long jolly finding places where we can keep the appropriate distance away from people has usually involved us and the dogs getting very muddy. I think it would have been much easier to do if we weren't coming off the back of the wettest February on record.

I am really worried about what we will do if we have to go on full lockdown as one of my dogs suffers from severe anxiety because of a moron setting off a load of fireworks on Christmas Day at 5pm. She will only do 2 walks from our door and not all the time. We've actually been waiting for a Vet behaviourist appointment because it has gotten so bad. Our usual solution when she won't walk is just to bundle her in the car and take her somewhere as once she is out walking she absolutely loves it but we live on a main road and the noise of cars going by is too much for her some days :( If we are not allowed to do this it will be really bad for her.

On the positives I've been reading more than ever. I've ordered an adult colouring book and some pens. I've ordered some resistance bands so that we can do my Pilates routine at home. There seems to be loads of youtube routines so shouldn't run out. I ordered the vinyl of one of the bands I was meant to be going to see as I know this has hit them hard. I'm trying to stream the artists that I should have been going to see and sticking to listening to smaller artists as I figure they need the money more. Can I recommend dancing around to Cut Capers it's very hard to feel sad about anything when you do this. We've been eating takeaways so far and I am feeling lucky that I had started a Hello Fresh subscription a couple of weeks ago. I had intended to bin them after the offer expired but now they are helping me delay going to the Supermarket at all and giving me new recipes to try. Finally catching up on some tv shows that we were behind with.

My team are based in Barcelona so they are a few weeks ahead of us in this. We had a video chat with my boss, his wife and their dog on Saturday night and they have been scheduling in these things with friends as they have already been doing this for 2 weeks. We ordered a pretty epic takeaway from our local Bun & Bones Club yesterday as well. Sent photos to my boss and he was jealous as apparently the takeaway options in Barcelona are not great.

I have also ordered a bakery and some restaurant vouchers for when it all blows over and postponed our holiday to next year. I'm on a 14 month contract at my work and it is probably much less likely to be made permanent now (when I started it was assumed it would be a certainty) so at least having a holiday paid for already for next year is some comfort.

This has got my imagination running riot.
What is actually in an adult colouring book

Don't let it go too wild :D Colouring in is meant to be good for mindfulness just concentrating on something else.There is a whole range of them but this is the one I opted for

Do it. It'll pass the time and you can order games online so no need to go out. You can get lots of games made for the original PS remastered and they're good for a nostalgia trip.

I bought FIFA20 over the weekend to play online with my mates, great way to kill a few hours and gives us all a chance to catch up. Ill be honest, i dont really like FIFA20 at all, but being able to have a laugh with those i probably wont see in a while makes it all the more worthwhile.

My PS4 and PC will be the things keeping me sane for the foreseeable future. If I wasn’t a gamer I definitely wouldn’t be able to handle the isolation.

You can even socialise online through games if you find the right group of people.

A slight variation on that theme ... do the whole thing from scratch ... not done any for a few years ... but here’s one of mine ..

Rather than the traditional flowers for Mothers Day we bought my mother in law a jigsaw, some crossword puzzle books and lots of normal books. It seemed a more useful thing to do as she is over 70, has diabetes and lives along more than 90 miles away from any family. Thankfully she has a good neighbour whose son is doing all her shopping for her. We don't have a free table for jigsaws unfortunately hence the smaller colouring books for me!!

You can’t go wrong with the exclusives;

God of War might be best game of this generation that isn’t BOTW;

Horizon Zero Dawn and Spider-Man are both ace too.

Oh, I keep forgetting there's another God of War game now. I really enjoyed the ones on PS2 but this one looks pretty different. Will probably still check it out.

Think I might finally play The Last of Us too.

The new GOW is nothing like the old ones and it’s brilliant. Go play it.

You can also pick up dirt cheap too.

Tbh my first choice was a Switch because a few of my friends have been playing Mario Kart, Smash Bros and Animal Crossing. But can't seem to find one anywhere :(

What games would y'all recommend for PS4? I want to finally play Bloodborne

What is the deal with switches? I had thought the same but can find one anywhere, apart from double the price on gumtree.
