I will only queue for things that have a toilet inside them ... not much point going in and then needing the loo ......possibly why I liked copper dollar as there was no need to leave

This is a good point. Does anyone have a list of venues in the SE corner with a loo?

Oh how I miss copperdolla

I queued up for maybe 10 minutes to get into something at the SE corner one time and that was enough. There’s no way I’m queuing for hours to get into anywhere - I’d rather just turn up earlier when queues are minimal.

The most head scratching queue I’ve witnessed is the one for mobile recharging. Partly because it’s completely unnecessary if you have the right equipment (or use the locks ups to charge) but also because it seems so un-Glasto to spend time doing that, of all things.

Can you charge stuff at the lockups???

One of my biggest gripes about glasto is the ques for toilets when you know half of them are empty and everybodys just stood waiting. I get more annoyed with this the longer the fest goes on!

Thankfully it seems the portfolios are on their way out at least with the others you can see people's feet when you approach ?

So this might not be right of me, but I never wait in the queue line. Theres always empty loos!!!! I just stroll past the line, and use an empty one. I think queuing to use the bathroom when theres empty stalls is frankly irresponsible. Id just be adding to the queue for no reason.

Don't see a problem queueing for a little bit if it's something you really really want to see. Hate the snobby attitude around here about it too to be honest - there's no 'right' way to do the festival, like.

Queued for half hour or so for the Downlow now and then, was fine last time out cause you could still hear Genosys. Also it was for Dan Shake playing absolute slappers til 6am so time well spent recharging the batteries. Queued for a tiny bit for Aphex Twin on The Temple a few years ago but had to bail when it was clear there was no chance.

100% this. Particularly if you are in a group as you’ll inevitably lose someone as (soon as) you go in. Has anyone ever written a guide with venues that have toilets - vital information.

A couple of good points here I think: a bit of down time is good (although I do prefer to be actually sitting for it) and if the queue is going to get you in to a good spot for a long time then there's definitely more value.

I do this, I’m not joining a pointless queue just to be polite.

To be honest that's what I do. Just walk along and knock  until you get no reply ?

Not strictly queing but I popped out from the tent with my mate  to buy some fresh bread from the bakers in Greenpeace field as my mates missus was cooking a fry up for breakfast. Bread wasn't ready and told to come back in 20 mins so popped for a pint of brothers. Anyways bread wasn't ready again so popped for another pint.

Turned out the bakers oven wasn't working.

5 pints later we got the bread and no breakfast. Was both smashed!

We've queued for Funkingham palace a couple of times (once it closed as we got to the front ?) but we dont mind queueing with some drinks as we find this is one of the best ways to end up getting chatting with random people around us (it's usually just me and my husband at Glasto, rather than a group of us) which is a big part of Glastonbury for me...

Only ever queued for a venue once at Glastonbury, probably about 10 minutes to get into London Underground because the group I was with were all desperate to go in. Not something I plan to do again.

Never queued for toilets - I really think that there's rarely a need to - no matter where you are on site and how busy it is there, there'll be another set within 5 minutes walk and probably 5+ sets within 10 minutes so if you have a think about the options and move away from the crowds you should be able to find a block with a choice of empty stalls in less time than it would take you to queue.

Food is a given, though. Can't avoid it.

Call me goody two shoes, but if there's a queue, I check to see if there are spare toilets, then tell the person/people at the front about them, then get to the back of the queue.

This. I usually try a few doors when I get to the front and most times end up finding an empty one. Doesn’t help me as I’ve already queued, but I feel like I’ve done a good thing putting at least one portaloo back into action!

Another, someone extreme option if the arena toilets have massive queues - you can sometime hotfoot it to a campsite toilet and get back again before the queue has moved enough to get you to a toilet.

Prime example are the toilets the other side of the railway line instead of the tiny, oversubscribed toilets in the Other field.

Goody two shoes!!

I look at it this way... I've done the work so I get the reward, and when I'm done the toilet that was sitting unused is now back in play! The person at the front of the queue is going to get the next stall either way.

Also by the time I get to a washroom it's usually because I'm absolutely busting and waiting in a queue would end in me peeing my pants.

Have you never had somebody queueing having a word because you cut in front?

It's not cutting in front though is it when half are empty. It's called been sensible ?

Of course it’s cutting in front. The courteous action would be to let the person at the front of the queue know there’s a stall free, not jump into it because they didn’t notice.
