Arriving Friday.......

Posted before about bringing a toddler but not sure we are confident enough for that just yet. Had ultimatum from her who must be obeyed.

We go on Friday and get there early afternoon or we don't go at all. Her who must be obeyed's brother is going on a coach on Wed so can set a tent up for us.

We live near Huddersfield and it is around 7-8 hour journey. I think it is a ridiculous idea as its such a long drive and be tired for the whole festival for the sake of missing so muich of it. Anyone done this before? I know some have said teachers do it and that's all well and good but guessing they live much closer and obviously have a 6 week holiday soon after to recover!

haven't the extra days been added more recently ? i know its busier earlier than it was 10 years ago .. but did the wed and thurs still exist as festival days ?

In 2008 (I think) it was advertised as a 5 day festival as ticket sales were poor. This encouraged more people to arrive earlier and this trend has continued to grow. I have always arrived on Wednesday. :)

likewise ... I was trying to make the point (badly ) that 3 days is still great value and great fun should it be this option or nothing

Tell her who must be obeyed that you're popping down the shop to grab a pint of milk on Wednesday morning and don't come back till Monday, I'm sure she will get over it in time ?

This is probably the last year I can do the Wednesday because of work, earliest next year (tickets permitted) will be Thursday evening and I'm a good 4/5 hour drive. I would always choose some Glastonbury over no Glastonbury.

You have bought tickets knowing all this already . It's no use blaming  your partner at this stage.  Strange what's going on here. Oh dear oh dearie me

Teachers '6 week holidays' are not just for a rest as they also need a lot of time working on preparing for the start of the new school year and those who do go to Glastonbury live all over the country, not just locally.

Just wanted to mention this for balance in the conversation.

Except we haven't bought tickets as I clearly state we are trying in resale but if you can't read that's not an issue of mine.

Someone pointed that out to him 9 hours ago, but if you can't read, that is an issue of yours :P

3 days of Glastonbury is infinitely better than no Glastonbury at all.  Plus you won't have to worry about setting up/carrying your tent so the walk to your camp will be a lot easier.

Just think what is worse, being a bit tired for the festival or seeing it on the TV knowing that you could have been there?

did it once, won't be doing it again. I missed so much . mainly getting there and everyone was already right in the swing of things having in jokes and laughs that I wasn't part of.

I just wouldn't go and then say next year we are doing five days .
