AF also headlined BST that summer. Can’t see how they wouldn’t have been a first pick.

They weren't a first pick for that. BST wanted Eminem but the neighbours famously vetoed it or something, so Arcade Fire were announced and they already had London shows a month before. But yo who cares? Let's talk about the Eagles.

I’d take any other rumoured act over Arctic Monkeys, even though I wouldn’t see some of them. They were absolutely woeful at Werchter couple of years ago, and average the other two times I saw them (inc Glasto 2013)

I seem to be one of the minority who actually enjoyed their 2013 set.

From what I remember I think @eFestivals said some user told him in 2014 Glasto approached FM, Prince and the representatives of Led Zeppelin. Obviously hoping one of them would say yes.

I reckon @dentalplan is correct and DM were in the mix.

I know for a fact Neil made a post saying he thought Arcade Fire were called up after FM said no. I remember seeing a post saying that with my own eyes.

We even thought Metallica were headlining the other stage that year. Personally, I think that info was bogus as they were booked for glasto when they were a genuine Sonisphere exclusive. Hence why they couldn’t be announced until after all the tickets were sold.

My speculation - in 2014 Glasto shot for the stars and only managed to land two backup headliners. They really struggled to fill the third spot so started asking off the wall options (Metallica).

re Eagles - we had nothing on the Eagles other than we had no idea who the third headliner was and Metallica were obviously a Sonisphere exclusive.

I enjoyed it, much more than other times I seen them, but still didn’t walk away with that “wow” buzz headliners sometimes give you. And I can’t see them being able to do that now due to their most recent output, which absolute butchered their werchter set. Would personally rather see a bump up for 1975/Foals tbh.

I was there, thought it was great. Do when I watch back now as well.

I'd be shocked if they did 2020 with no new material, unless they were booked some time back

I am not wanting AM to get the gig. Lets not confuse matters. It's only the prediction.

@RarerThanDandyB Its not that tweet, it mentioned Heaton Park. Im from Manchester & it was retweeted by some twitter friend I have.

I am from Bolton, yes mate. yeah exactly, I reckon you are pretty accurate though. Heaton Park... Monkeys playing Heaton Park. Mad.

They did release an album called Tranquility Base Hotel and Casino or are we totally omitting that one from memory

Nope. I thought it was excellent and if you asked me who I want to headline Glastonbury, they'd be in my top 3. I just don't think the timing works for them to do Glastonbury, one album on from their last headline slot

I thought it was great as well. Musically some of the best music they have done - just not Arctic Monkeys. Werchter was a shocking set however seeing them at TRNSMT and Manchester Arena they were fantastic. To see them headline the pyramid would be brilliant for me since I was 13 when they did it and obviously I wasn't old enough to go and it looked awesome.

Half of my group went to AM, i went to Chic expecting it would be the only chance i'd get to see them. How i was wrong. Ive seen Chic 5 times since. Looking back i would have preferred to have seen AM in 2007 rather than 2013

Kasabian we’re replacing Prince I thought?

No, Metallica were replacing Prince if I remember right. Think it was assumed Metallica were doing The Other Stage, Prince was headlining Pyramid on Saturday. When Prince info got out, he cancelled, Metallica got pushed up to Pyramid and somehow Jake Bugg headlined Other.

That was my first Glastonbury, and I am glad Kasabian headlined as they're one of my favourite bands. As far as I know, they were also booked quite far in advance, and not necessarily a panic book. They had released 48:13 2 weeks before and sold out Victoria Park in Leicester the previous weekend. Maybe they were a second choice after someone big, but I always assumed they were pretty close to the top of the list.

Unreal. I'd be as disappointed if Gerry Cinnamon was to do it next year. And i wouldn't be surprised if he did. ;(

I'm still baffled to this day about it. Jake Bugg went from headlining the Other, to an afternoon slot on the 4 Music Stage at V Festival within a year. They could have easily put Lana Del Rey, Manic Street Preachers or Ed Sheeran in that slot. Honestly, I've never got my head around it.
Nor have I ever understood why people would go and watch him over Metallica?

I think Metallica might be my favourite headline booking of this decade. If not then Kanye.

Rolling Stones are my favourite booking since I've been going. Metallica and Arcade Fire are well up there. Adele was a different vibe that also smashed it.

Haha I've asked myself the question of why would people would see a certain headliner over another. Justice over Ed Sheeran is the best example. Out of my group of 15 i was the only one who chose Justice and i remind them often :)
