A Different Thread
Friday 28th June

Sounds interesting.  Could be one for @Wooderson going by the bio "A Different Thread' delivers an intoxicating amalgamation of Beatlesque folk rock meets Gillian Welch dark country..."

I'm always suspicious of Friday dates, as it's often to indicate the start day of the festival rather than the specific day an act is playing.

You're probably right though they seemed the kind of act that could do a Wednesday or Thursday set somewhere like Avalon Cafe. They're playing somewhere in Warwick on the Saturday.

Appreciated pal. This kind of contemplative americana is something I find tough to resist at the moment. Nice hint of Isbell's recent stuff here.

we've got to get you to Newport Folk Festival some year, mate, you'd love it...although it does seem to going quite 'country-flavored-americana' of recent years. They're announcing artists bit by bit at moment rather than full lineup (it sells out immediately without any acts named like Glastonbury does), mostly lessor names at first, but you might recognize a gem or two on Fri/Sat. Missus and I are booked for that!

All this talk of contemplative Americana is time time to set up the Folky/Americana/Country at Glastonbury 2019 thread

    • Wednesday is a nice addition imo
    • Kronenberg in a tent as well IIRC but Brooklyn Pilsner was easier to get without queueing and was everywhere across the festival.
    • I think they'll end up doing something due to pressure and bad PR. Maybe they do a discount code for next year or bar credit or something along those lines.    I agree though. I acknowledge that the lineup is huge but surely you can't cancel 33% of the headliners and not reimburse in some way. Their insurance will probably cover their fees for MA, Doja, Bad Gyal and Mac DeMarco due to force majeure.
    • Looks like nothing for weekend ticket holders. You'd expect a goodwill gesture.
    • Enough has been covered about how much of a sh*t show that was, so I'll just say, Massive Attack and it's relationship with this festival (and potentially me) are f**king cursed.    They were announced in 2020 when I first got excited about seeing them. They were subsequently on the poster for 21, 22 and now 26. This time I was in actually in the crowd close to the stage waiting for them twice haha. I give up!
