  1. 1. If The Cure were to headline would you be there? I'm intrigued due to the varied opinions of them on here.

    • Yes - Definitely, regardless of who else is on the other stages.
      173
    • More than likely - Depending on strength of the clashes on other stages.
      239
    • Unlikely - Know a couple of songs but there would probably be something else on you'd watch instead.
      179
    • No - Never been a fan so will definitely be elsewhere.

Bob was at the Pixies gig, saw him cowering in the VIP area our passes wouldn't get us into.

I was thinking about that gig last month when I was at a gig at the Night and Day in Manchester and they were advertising an upcoming gig by Cud who were one of the support acts.

I’ll tell the c**t which way he should jump. Out the fucking window would be my suggestion.

Still time to get a flight over Mardy, it's the Just The Good Ones Tour so it should be over quite early.

Hehehe. As it goes, i’m flying over on the 10th, the day of that London gig, but unfortunately, i’ve already got a ticket to see another band from that era that i"ll inevitably be disappointed with (House of Love)

I was at that gig too.  Never realised James played, thought I only saw James for first time about 5 yrs ago on Hey Ma tour.  Love them live now and seen them a few times recently and again with Charlatanz later this year.

Saw The Cure again in some huge airship sized venue in London a year or so later, Bob & the boys little dots in the distance pre big screen days.  (Googled it - Earls Court 1996!. Not a good show)

That might have been the last time I saw them, apart from I have vague recollections of a Wembley Arena award winners gig, I want to say NME but fear it may have been Smash Hits. Must have been the Indie days though, remember Ride & Carter USM and I think Cure headlined???

Edit - Found it, The Great British Music Weekend Jan 1991. Not NME or Smash Hits! Something to do with The Brits.

Would love to see them on the Pyramid.

That was my first ever proper London gig. Also had Jesus Jones, Wedding present, and New Model Army, and a special guest that ended up being Billy Bragg which was massively underwhelming at the time :D  I do remember it being on the radio but Carter's Bloodsport for all wasn't broadcast.

Way back when while at university I got chatting to some bloke in the student union and the subject turned to music. Said he was a musician and used to be in a band. I asked him if they were any good and he casually mentioned he was in the House of Love, but was now studying architecture.

No idea which one he was, but he wasn’t Guy.

Coulda been bullshit mind.

“Groothuizen would subsequently coproduce and engineer the debut album for British chansonnier Simon Warner in 1996 before taking on a new career as an architect and lecturer”

looks legit.

I’ll be honest, i’ve not got high hopes for the gig, i’m much more excited about the Sunday (Cowboy Junkies) and the Monday (Parquet Courts). But y’know, Terry Bickers is a stone-cold genius, so I’m ready to give the House of Love one more chance.

Ah ha!

I reckon it could be a decent gig tbh.

But the other two are v.promising.

What’s the new CJ lp like? Might have a listen today.

I’s not bad, couple of decent tunes. Listened to the nomad seies vol 4 last night, pretty good, especally the closing track (Fuck, I hate the cold). But it’s Margo Timmins, she could sing the instructions for changing my hoover bag and i’d just melt, especially when that mandolin comes weaving in. The Caution Horses is one of my favourite albums ever. I last saw them in the early 90s at the Royal Albert Hall, so i’m properly excited about this one, in a small theatre with tickets in the 6th row

Yep, bridge theatre. This tour is full of interesting venues. They don’t play Europe very often, so it could be a bit special

If we're talking Wish album tracks, I'm rather partial to The Edge Of The Deep Green Sea, I think of it as a companion piece to Just Like Heaven.

From the Edge Of the Deep Green Sea is the GOAT song tbh. Can't believe we're gonna be seeing that on the Pyramid Stage next year.

2017 - Let Down on the Pyramid

2019 - From the Edge Of the Deep Green Sea on the Pyramid

GOAT followed by GOAT.

But yeah, to the person who's listened to nowt past Disintegration you have to listen to Wish. My second favourite of theirs after Disintegration. Open, High, From the Edge of the Deep Green Sea, A Letter To Elise, End. Crikey.

1. Disintegration

2. Wish

3. Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me

4. The Head On the Door

5. Pornography

Pictures of You is a dead song compared to ...Deep Green Sea, but it's probs in second place.

The end of ...Deep Green Sea is the GOAT musical moment. Better than Let Down from "You know, you know where you are with" onwards.

"I wish I could just stop
I know another moment will break my heart
Too many tears
Too many times
Too many years I've cried for you
It's always the same
Wake up in the rain
Head in pain
Hung in shame
A different name
Same old game
Love in vain
And miles and miles and miles and miles and miles
Away from home again"

Gonna be crying at the pymild stage.
