not tomorrow though is it

Well now I don't know what to believe. I generally trust the person who's name links to the Simpsons but that's not gonna work here.

They're doing an arena tour in Feb. That's bigger than a 6th down Pyramid act would innit.

Hmm true. Pyramid is a bit weird, too, in that once you get past half way down it's a load of random baffling stuff most of the time. I'll settle on either not playing or pre-Kylie.

Yep. And they're headlining various day-festival-for-posh-types in early June, that based on other acts playing the same spots would put them at approximately the same level as Chic or Noel G.

I thought they'd be about 4th down - a bit like Madness I suppose - and unlikely to be much earlier. I think the German date announced today puts an end to them potentially doing Glastonbury though, unless it's post-Kylie as you say but I'm sceptical that they'll end up playing.

I was wondering why @Divein knew about The National's plans. Can't believe I didn't figure this out earlier. That's definitely quite interesting.

Awful name aside, its good news that there’s a growing festival in NE1. Not fussed about either days but I might give Noel a look if he’s not announced for Glastonbury.

Price increasing a bit as well. I remember last year it was about £35 (not that I wanted to go but I just spotted it) and was thinking if Foals are about that then it might be okay but it's over £50 now. Although I didn't realise how hideous the undercard was so sack it anyway.

Yeah the ones on The Downs, would be cool to see The National do it although I'm not sure they'd be booked.

Oh I thought they had something near Motion. Skyline I think it was called?

Downs is at the end of summer so probs wouldn't work

Ahh yeah, although all those gigs got moved this year because the venue wasn't ready so I'm not sure what'll be happening with that.

I noticed that the poster for the Manics Cardiff gig announced this morning also had "sounds of the city 2019" at the top of it. Any connection to the Manchester event?

Someone in the SJM design team has left that on there by mistake, I reckon.

The National playing 5 mins from my front door on my birthday, might have to be done. At the very least grab some tinnies near by.

Always been mega jealous of the three or so flats which have those balconies/roof top access looking right at the stage.

    • sub yes I could see but I don't think they get 1hr 15, a headliner starting at 18:15 though is unlikely. Even the recent co-headlines that have had like 1hr 15 then a 1hr 30 after were on 8pm or just before, you are trailing behind more than 1.5 hours then. In that scenario some 3rd down bands are only starting at 18:15 and some haven't lol. I agree they won't not book them due to this but it won't be 6 headliners. It would be 5 headliners and you wouldn't want to see 5 headliners booked but Biffy were to not be thouhgt of as an option for one. Wolf Alice on the other hand could sub no bother and you'd think nothing of it. I'm not so sure Biffy would get headline though after the festival choice in Kendal this year.
    • Definitely. UKIP also used Merkel welcoming 1 million Afgans to Europe in 2015 during the brexit vote.   Politicians in other countries within the EU know the are going to lose voters to parties to the right of them over stuff like this and they've no control over it.
    • I think it will very much vary on who there is to book who they know will sell out a day.    They’ve co-headline and full headline stuff in future, there no reason at all they won’t do it again, even if it means cutting someone’s set by 15 mins or having a band less in a big bands day…   They’re not going to not book Foo fighters and instead get the equivalent of Florence and C&S just to not have a band do a big set…   …unless of course they think it will make them more money…
    • Maybe some right wing leaders like Meloni are just playing to their base, like Reform have been here talking about them ending up at Calais.
    • Citizenship via investment programs basically work by saying if you invest this much in our economy (say buy a property worth x) then we will either grant you citizenship or residency with a route to it. The EU has rules on how low countries can set the bar. Montenegro was one of the easier ones to get and they've had to tighten it up.
