BambooShanks
Aside from the obvious, there are some positives from this. It will take longer for the campsites to fill up, so there might be a better chance of getting a decent space. I don't know about you guys, but I've always gone to a bit of effort to ensure what ever naughty things I have, are concealed enough to withstand a search. Just make sure you don't have wires poking out of your bag, security get a bit jumpy over things like that. The queues on wednesday are going to be epic though. That will be a mission and a half

elbongo
Would they ask you to unpack your tent? Bloody things a nightmare to put away. Now previously been the safest place to store things because they have never in all the years asked people to unpack a tent. That I have seen that is. Stupid world ♡♡♡

liamium
do we think this will be pretty rigorous, as in, literally everything out of your rucksacks, tents unpacked, crate boxes opened? suppose thats the only way for it to be properly effective. not gonna pretend the thought of a complete unpacking and repacking isn't giving me the jitters but obviously, at this point, i wouldn't expect anything less. will put 200,000 at ease

So those of us taking lots of lights and battery packs for outfits would probably be better having them extra visible on the way in to make it clear what they are for. stopwn1981
Also apart from just the website and tweet, surely they should be emailing this to all ticket holders.
Metal Monkey
I'm all for this, I expect the festival are very worried, but it's going to be a massive job. I was hoping they would open the gates earlier to ease the queues, but I guess that would be a change in licence and a shed load of extra wages. somecoolusername
It's one of the biggest events in the country so there's no way around this really, given what's happened recently. yeah it'll probably mean it takes longer to get in, but remember, they're trying to keep us safe
Deaf Nobby Burton
I can't imagine they are going to search every bag, it would take days to get everyone through. Obviously this announcement in itself acts as a deterrent, and I'm sure they'll be more thorough, but if they search the bag of all 150k people then it would take until Christmas to get in. Ollie9917
I think the body searches will most be pat downs and stuff its hard to hide a knife between ya balls plus i dont think they will even be allowed to like proper get in there with their hands Edited June 5, 2017 by Ollie9917
6t6o6m
They'll have some airport kind of hand scanners I expect to give the tent the once over.
benc
hmm not quite sure how a separate queue for trollies will work in practical terms, will it be segregated, and how far back will the segregation go? once the trolly queue has backed up to the end of the segregated zone, what happens? nowyouregideon
At Y Not last year everyone got searched, queue was pretty long. Obviously the population difference is huge but it can happen. Depends how many people there were doing the searching really. benc
I wonder what the search rate has been the last few years, like out of 100 people how many people are searched - at peak time - 5%? Even if that increased to 20% there shouldn't be an increase in queueing time?

bombfrog
Am I the only person that thinks this is an absolutely pointless exercise, designed to create the illusion of making everybody safer but in reality just going to make Wednesday a nightmare for everybody involved? DeadAmos
24 minutes ago, andyhh said: I'm trying to work out how long that would take...is that even possible? Yes it is possible they search all bags at download on the way into the campsite and when entering the arena or they did when I was lat there a couple of years ago
shoptildrop
Mmmhhh totally get when it they need to do it but as a person who straps everything to a trolley and doesn't understand the words "pack light" this is going to be interesting
Fingerbobs
As a mostly Thursday arrival I get these full on searches every year anyway. On the way in and inside the festival on one occasion. It's everything out of the rucksack and onto the table. Pants too. I save my worst worn out pants for festivals too. Oh the humanity. Not gonna get mad about this in our ever more wrong new world though. Glad they're officially announcing it too.
PurpleFire
I must say my Thursday Coach Ticket is looking a little bit of a godsent I can see Wednesday being a tad horrific but it's what's needed! Checking every car every bag and every person is going to take an age!
