Yeah but no one gives a damn about The Eagles who wasn't around when they were in their heyday, do they? The Cure are listened to by people of all ages, from like 15 upward I'd say. They're massive cultural icons and one of the first bands from the past people will check out when getting into alternative music (in the same way as the likes of The Smiths, Joy Division, etc.). I've never met anyone who actively likes The Eagles, never mind anyone under 40.

If The Eagles headlined Glastonbury I doubt you'd find many young people there. I'd probably get laughed at for having a ticket to a festival headlined by The Eagles tbh.

The Eagles albums still do really well today and its not like they cant do decent size tours, they are playing Wembley twice the week before Glastonbury and do well touring the world. Theyd go down every bit as well as The Cure.

That said they arent gonna do it so its a pointless debate.

cure fans only like the cure because they're sad from being bullied as a child

The Cure are cool tho. Might have been uncool at their peak (I have no idea) but The Cure defo have an above-average fanbase in terms of coolness amongst younger people.

Killers? Muse? Mumford? These bands have uncool fans who deserve to be bullied, but not The Cure.

If your mates laugh at you for seeing The Eagkes theb Im sorry to say but your friends probably have poor taste in music.

I was joking on that part, my friends aren't that weird, but Eagles are trash.

Yeah, they're massive, but their fans are all fat, middle aged, balding white blokes. Not doing Glasto.

Nowt wrong with that. The Cure has the same fanbase, onlt the Cures fans wear eyeliner, grow the back and sides of their hair out to make it look more ridiculous and look depressed when watching their favourite band. Ill still have beers and a sing along with them though.

Didn't stop The Who tbf.

Aye but at least their fans like music and festivals.

Imagine an Eagles fan rocking up to a festival.

See also most of The Cure's fans.

I like them but still true.

The Cure have those people plus all the edgy kids tho. And females. And non-Tories.

I'm not exaggerating but I genuinely do not think I've ever in my life seen/heard a young person express positive views on The Eagles.

Very fair, can't argue with that one.

Glad you're happy with The Cure being there, anyways, gonna be a good time.

I understand that the “who” factor should never be a reason why an act should not be booked for glastonbury because even if they booked Rihanna theyd probably have some gammon on Facebook like “who?”

but for real if they booked Eagles it would be a resounding “who”.

The only people who would say “who” at the cure are people who still don’t know who arcade fire are. (Ie, not worth your time)

It’s something I find absolutely hilarious. What more does the band have to do to be well known? They have had fantastic commercial success and yet I encounter people daily who know nothing about them.

its some kind of indie magic I tell you

And contrary to some folks perception they do enjoy a laugh, even at their own expense.

Is that why you want it to be The Eagles? So you haven't wasted time listening to Wings?

Nah, I dont expect The Eagles to play at all nor will be bothered if they dont. Even if I dont like the headliners Ill find something to watch so Im not all that worried.

Maibly just joking around, I havent listened to Wings all month but have been blasting a mixture of them, McCartney and The Beatles though.

    • Thanks so much - that's very helpful. Someone else mentioned getting a train from Loughborough to East Midlands Parkway, and then a festival shuttle from there to the site. I think they were then going to come back on the Skylink Derby to Loughborough - I assume this is because the trains don't run as late as the Skylink, otherwise they would just come back the same way they came?! Is the transport hub a long way from the main stage? Just wondering what time I would need to leave Linkin Park to be sure of getting a shuttle. As I say, I am sure it will all be clear on the day, even after a few beers! Just hope the rain stays away...
    • I really don't think they would put Olivia Rodrigo on Occident stage. If it was her, they would put her in earlier Mordor slot and move Big Thief or Little Simz to Occident.   Fontaines DC are more probable, but don't really match the hype. However, again, if the hype was real, the artist would end up in Mordor.   That being said, I would love to see Fontaines DC tonight.
    • After all the good advice on here I had a nice visit to the site earlier in the week.    Walked down from Pilton village to Hitchen Hill and down the footpath to the Wood by Woodies.    Really strange seeing the site empty of 100,000 people. There is far more hedges and woodland on the site than you remember when the festival is on. Can see the stone circle and some structures still up on site. And looks like Worthy View has some camping going on there during the summer too.   Lots was fenced off with electric fencing to help wth the cattle grazing. Is really amazing how they set up the site as its hard enough accessing the area by car and foot nevermind all the kit needed to set the festival up. As others said you can't walk the whole site but nice to see the site again after a few years away   Pilton is also a lovely village with a nice village hall shop and post office attached, and got to speak to some locals who told me a few tales of past festivals down the years. One house for sale there would be lovely to live in - if only I had £2 million going spare
    • 6music just shared a video of all of Fontaines DC singing along to the Cure last night. It'll be them. Booooo    Olivia might get up for I Love You though...
