2019 Headliners

I think I might be one of the few who is pretty happy with this trio. I'd quite like to see a bit of Stormzy, but will almost definitely be led elsewhere by what's on West Holts/Other/Park. Will likely watch Macca, although again the same could apply (assuming it's a long set I'll at least catch the start, I think). And I'd love to see The Cure smash Glasto and prove the doubters wrong. Either way, they're a great Sunday headliner for me - that's the day I most often struggle for a big finale and I'm out of energy by then so a contemplative set with a few hits for a little boogie would do me.

I hope LG will be subbing Stormzy then I will probably give that stage a swerve on that night, although my daughter might have other ideas.

I love The Cure, so will be there for that...and can’t not see Macca just because, well, it’s Paul McCartney...he used to be in the Beatles and everything!

Can't see Liam subbing anyone other than Macca tbh.  No real rationale for him subbing Stormzy IMO

i got the text any optimist has been dreading this morning, my cousin whose band is signed to island records said the info is definitely

fri - stormzy

sat - paul mc

sunday - the cure

and LG subbing one of them, is strange for them all to be confirmed so early though

I wouldn't say it's strange, I'm sure from the festivals point of view they'd rather that than it dragging on and on

Please let us have The Chemical Brothers on the other or Hot Chip headlining anywhere on the Sunday.

The Cure booking makes zero appeal to me.

Would I be foolish in expecting them to have the smallest crowd of the 3 headliners?

I think knowing TCB are there, or a late reprise of Gaga, would make my festival for me. I'd be happy regardless and the old "plenty other stuff to do" cliche and all that, but I need to make up for my utter stupidity of missing TCB... TWICE.

The Chems are likely to be there as they have a new album coming and it’s the easiest booking the festival can make since the band’s manager lives at Worthy Farm.

Also I don’t understand why missing the Chemical Brothers is a regret when it happens every four years. You could miss them next year and still be fine to see them again at some point.

No chance of finding out which day he’s playing then?

I know yeh, but put of my 5 Glasto's, they were there twice, and like an absolute nob I missed both. Bad decisions. I know I could always go and see them outside the festival too, but it's just the annoyance that I missed them at the farm, where music is magically amplified :D

Could Massive Attack be back for another headline slot on the Other? They're active next year with the Mezzanine dates albeit those finish in March.

I'm hoping that it will happen but that's based on pure desire to see them again.  it was only 4 years ago that they last headlined so is enough of a gap I suppose.

I'm in the same boat - last time I saw Flying Lotus instead and as good as it was (the stage show was pretty damn cool), it just wasn't what I needed at the time.

I think they will do. Although i did forget about the increased capacity on the Sunday. Also depends on what's on elsewhere.

Why does there have to be rationale? Stormzy is a headliner, LG is a sub, that's all that's needed tbh. There's no more reason for him to sub Macca than Stormzy.

The Cure playing on Sunday makes more sense than them playing on Saturday, but I still can’t picture Macca anywhere other than Sunday night. It’s an odd coupling whichever way around you put them. Makes Stormzy look quite token.

Why can't you see Macca playing anywhere other than Sunday? Seems to me they usually put the biggest headliner on the Saturday, and the most similar booking to Macca over the last few year is the Stones who played Saturday.

Whilst I have no reason to doubt the guy with the day information, The Cure don't seem like a very "local-friendly" act for a Sunday which is the direction that the festival seems to have taken in recent years. McCartney would seem to logical choice for Sunday but I guess it depends on availability.

It really doesn't seem to me like a lot of thought goes into pleasing the locals with the Sunday headliner tbh. In 2014 they were stuck with Kasabian.

Only info we have is that The Streets are either subbing Pyramid or headlining Other, and that Wolf Alice have been offered Other headliner.

I liked The Streets back in the day, but I'm struggling to wrap my head around them headlining The Other.

Man, nostalgia ain't what it used to be

    • So we've signed a Horny Czech, and Bruno's turned up the training camp instead of doing Isak's nonsense.   Still not sure I believe Bruno's staying mind, but glad he's not doing the sh*t Arsenal are asking him to do to lower the price. If they want him they can stump up.   My suspicion is that whichever of Madrid/Man City don't start next season with Rodri will go for Bruno, and one of them will come in while Arsenal have f**ked about trying to get him cheap, which while I absolutely want to keep him, would still be good enough bants and a nice middle finger that I wouldn't mind it so much. I just wish we'd report Arsenal for tapping up.   If rumours are to be believed, we're after 2 more defensive signings, and an attacking player, on top of a replacement if Bruno leaves, having already signed a LW, 2 CMs, a GK, and some youth players. Huge churn, but apart from a couple of Bazou Toure's games for Ivory Coast at the world cup, I've not seen any of them play. Over 2 summers we've basically changed our entire team aside from the CBs.
    • I think the level of headliners Bloodstock get is varied    There's been bands who have gone on to play Download in quite a low spot like Meshuggah, Behemoth, Opeth etc.    Then they've had years like 2025 where you can argue that all three headliners are download main stage sub level    Knocked Loose right now i'd argue are 3rd down on main/opus headliner level while EC and FFDP are borderline main stage sub
    • Yeah Roy's Tune was lovely. Looking forward to the whole thing hopefully going on iPlayer.   It's scattered dates they have this year really, proper tour/s to come next year - suspect a new single will drop in the next couple of months, providing the album is done.
    • Sounds fabulous. Totally fabulous.    These are the moments that are needed for mind and soul.
