This is a tricky one. In pure pop terms she's simply huge - probably as big as anyone you can think of. Both she and Sheeran's names were used as the "bait" for the Capital FM Christmas show and The Biggest Weekend (in Swansea). Both sold out in a matter of minutes. The crowd to see her in Swansea was absolutely rammed though I had the impression most were not hardcore Swifties. At £18 a ticket there were always going to be a huge cross section of people. There is still a huge untapped "crossover" market out there for people who would happily pay a good whack to see melodic rock like Def Leppard, Thunder and Fleetwood Mac but still see her as a lightweight pop act. Then there are the cross genre people like myself who will be seeing King Crimson, Public Service Broadcasting, Hawkwind and Slayer in the next few weeks. She wants to reach all those markets which is why I'm sure a Glasto appearance is a distinct possibility.

The corporate approach with which Swift is tackling disenfranchised Hawkwind fans is something else.

I live in Swansea and I don't honestly don't think we can read that much into the Biggest Weekend.

So from another perspective, we very rarely get many big artists down here as we don't have an arena. We perhaps have 2 big artists a year that play the Liberty Stadium but that's it. So as soon as the biggest weekend was announced a lot of people went because it was a big event and not necessarily because of the lineup. The fact that we had the poppiest lineup of the weekend also helped as quite a few people went "Well, I've heard of Ed Sheeran/Taylor Swift/George Ezra - it's only £20, let's go!"

I'm also pretty sure that Singleton Park only holds about 25000 people so with all these factors combined it wasn't surprising it sold out so quickly.

Pyramid

Friday : Pablo Honey
Monday : get new tyres (rear only, do NOT let the garage talk you into getting all 4)
your birthday: fucking hell it's Lady Gaga!

Other

Charli XCX: Charli XCX
Friday and Saturday... no, not Sunday as well, don't push your luck: So basically Werchter have moved their festival forward a week to book these. I think they're booked their for Sunday this year and from past history of play 6 times and 3 in 12 years they sell the tickets, this would be 4 in 19 years. Monkeys played this year, Macca only played in 16 and as said it didn't sell out...it was Thursday but he's huge enough to sell it...I've known others that have. I also personally didn't see it being the most solid year, their dip maybe if you like. Kendrick, it would be two summers after release of Damn and I don't think either Werchter or Glasto will go for that...Glasto would certainly want it when it's new and fresh and he did Puckelpop this year on a 2nd year. Also Stormzy isn't going to headline after never playing Werchter anyway.

I think Florence would get booked again for both already but I'm unsure a fest would move for her....she does sell well though.

Park

Friday: that band yer dad used to like when he was your age
Saturday: something fucking tedious
Sunday: the shoe drops, the Park stage isn't real, it was a confidence trick all along and you bought into it like the unquestioning mug you are. You're just looking at a wall you idiotic turd. You make me sick.

What about the field?

The last two pages of this thread have been bloody brilliant.

Can't wait for T'Pau:

"Carol Ann Decker is an English musician and lead vocalist for the band T'Pau, which had international success in the late 1980s. Although Decker's music is mainly associated with the group, she also released "One Heart," a solo single in 1995, to support the centenary of the Halifax World Cup Rugby League."

Wait, what?

Missed this year's but the 2017 edition was fucking priceless. Luckily it also coincided with Mrs Q being away so I didn't have to try and explain exactly why I was half cut and laughing like a drain at Katy Perry's house falling off the stage

Back on topic (sort of).

If Swifty headlines, Martin, and you provide the hoodie, I’ll gladly wear it at the meet.

    • So we've signed a Horny Czech, and Bruno's turned up the training camp instead of doing Isak's nonsense.   Still not sure I believe Bruno's staying mind, but glad he's not doing the sh*t Arsenal are asking him to do to lower the price. If they want him they can stump up.   My suspicion is that whichever of Madrid/Man City don't start next season with Rodri will go for Bruno, and one of them will come in while Arsenal have f**ked about trying to get him cheap, which while I absolutely want to keep him, would still be good enough bants and a nice middle finger that I wouldn't mind it so much. I just wish we'd report Arsenal for tapping up.   If rumours are to be believed, we're after 2 more defensive signings, and an attacking player, on top of a replacement if Bruno leaves, having already signed a LW, 2 CMs, a GK, and some youth players. Huge churn, but apart from a couple of Bazou Toure's games for Ivory Coast at the world cup, I've not seen any of them play. Over 2 summers we've basically changed our entire team aside from the CBs.
    • I think the level of headliners Bloodstock get is varied    There's been bands who have gone on to play Download in quite a low spot like Meshuggah, Behemoth, Opeth etc.    Then they've had years like 2025 where you can argue that all three headliners are download main stage sub level    Knocked Loose right now i'd argue are 3rd down on main/opus headliner level while EC and FFDP are borderline main stage sub
    • Yeah Roy's Tune was lovely. Looking forward to the whole thing hopefully going on iPlayer.   It's scattered dates they have this year really, proper tour/s to come next year - suspect a new single will drop in the next couple of months, providing the album is done.
