I feel like lots of announcements were on Tuesday's last year. Could be making it up mind.

I think the main days last year were:

ELO - Monday

Coldplay - Tuesday

PJ Harvey - Thursday

Muse - Friday

Adele - Friday

Updated Map - About 10pm on a Saturday

First Poster - Tuesday

There is no pattern. AHTT.

Just realised the thingy doesn't include the days it was announced just the date...

Come on @Gnomicide sort it out :P

I did some analysis once and had it all written in a book, I'll have to see if I can find it.

If I remember correctly, Friday's were quite rare but they broke all rules last year, after 7pm, Saturdays...

Maybe one day I'll add the days to TheThingy, I was thinking about it the other day, shuddered and decided against it.

Oh, nice. (In my defence, so did @The Red Telephone...)

I also like that someone suggested changing it to #HTTT.

I ain't hashtagging shit

(Not for one minute inferring that The Thingy is shit. I was attempting a joke by writing in a style spoken by young Americans)

Yeah there's yet to be a twist like in previous years. Will Mumford headline? What's this Depeche Mode talk? Can Elbow just fuck off? Is this the year we get Prince? Is this Metallica fiasco for real? Why isn't Florence a headliner? Why the fuck are The Who playing now? I think this place can't function when we know what's going on. Surprised we haven't descended into Simpsons yet, really.

This one is still accurate. And will always be accurate in my eyes.

I once decided I wanted to see Elbow (I was at Beni at the time) to see what some of the fuss was about after Seldom Seen Kid came out.. None of my mates wanted anything to do with them so I went alone. About 15 minutes into their set I got a phone call from a mate saying that he thinks another mate had passed out in a portaloo and needed help - I had a lot more fun trying to work out which portaloo the mate was in and then ripping the door off and seeing the friend passed out than I was having at Elbow.

Edit: When I say 'ripping the door off' - I mean getting a sucurity bloke to open it for us.

I need to get a life....

TheThingy updated to include the actual days announcements were made.

Seems I was wrong about Fridays.

Mon - 34
Tue - 47
Wed - 34
Thu - 40
Fri - 41
Sat - 6
Sun - 27 (Sundays are skewed because ticket sale dates are included)

So there you have it, who'd have thought it, #ThereIsNoPattern

May be missing something obvious with this question but is there any particular reason for them hardly ever announcing anything on Saturdays? It would certainly make my weekend infinitely better if I heard something on a Saturday.

Nobody likes working a Saturday.

Much less press coverage and impact at the weekend.

    • I wonder if they had that vote again they'd vote differently, seeing how successful other mayors like Burnham have been?
    • Doesn't surprise me. West Yorkshire had a vote if they wanted a mayor in 2012 and voted no. The government then ignored the vote and announced the position anyway in 2016.

    • Also agree, it does feel that there isn’t much between the Mercury Prize and the Brit Awards these days.   This part sums it up for me “The complaint isn’t so much about the quality of the music, but more the disappearance of spaces for outsider voices in British music. With streaming algorithms feeling increasingly geared towards big names, and social media acting as a minefield, the Mercury’s pivot to the mainstream closes another door in the face of creative independence.”
