Very good decision by the eavii to do this, clear everything up and start getting everyone excited for the upcoming festival! The new developments all sound great.

With all the explaining to do about the future of the festival and the new one I've just realised there was no pushing about any lineup details at all! All we got was about Kris Kristofferson.

That's about right for this time of year.  As ever I live in hope for something or other coming out around the time of the NME awards, but nothing of significance ever seems to be let slip in such interviews.

Yes, that was odd. It sounds like they'll hold the VB if they can get it sorted in time for 2019, then back at the Farm for the big 50th anniversary. If not, VB in 2021. So we'd either have two years away from the farm in 2018 and 2019, or a fallow year, Glasto at the Farm for two years, then another year off. Perhaps resetting the fallow year cycle.

Great Q&A, though. Pretty solid, clear communication there - as best as they can do with things still in planning stages, anyway/

And this year's festival sounds awesome!

I had a read of the interview after I left my desk last night.

And it's a great interview. It captures what i know of Michael and Emily, and puts a few things firmly to bed.

I'm pleased to see that "Emily hates the festival" thing killed off, that a number of people have contacted me about in the last few years, and which I always felt was wildly-wrong bollocks from the many contacts I've had with Emily for the last 15+ years.

Why is it and how is it?, my comment was nothing to do with where they will be etc, it was that I personally after this year want a break and time out to maybe do other things and return for the big 50th as I've had so many years there.

Yeah that was probably one the most interesting things about the article for me.

I actually wish it was longer, not like the old days where it took the best part of a day but 3-4 hours maybe especially with main sale being on a weekend. Would mean the more committed would have a better chance of getting a ticket - would probably kill off some of the casual newer breed of attendees too.

Yes, on one hand it's good because at least we now know we should always have a minimum of half an hour, as that seems to be the shortest they are currently happy to let it go. But I'd definitely prefer it went on for a few hours too, if it was 3-4 hours I'd be pretty confident of getting a ticket that way. Unfortunately I can't see them increasing it now because they would get negative press about it not selling as fast.

My personal sense from interviews tallies with yours - that she doesn't hate the festival at all, but I wouldn't expect her to admit she hated it if she did. She's clearly far too savvy for that. Emily isn't daft and saying she's not keen on her job would be.

Sadly, I don't think this interview has put anything to bed, irrespective of the truth.

Unless it's a double bluff and she actually loves the festival but is dogwhistling that she hates the festival whilst saying that she loves it so that she can promote her own legacy.

That being said, the old outdoor cinema was only ever busy on the Thursday, and i suspect the same would happen here if it was a cinema

Nope, I don't plan to go in 19 regardless. I've had enough of doing festival camping now to be honest with all the rest that comes with it, I'm only doing this year in the end due to fallow next and it working out a few acts I want to see most likely there and it's the closest it came to me not actually bothering.
