Happy new year everyone!! Lovely to see you all :) So pleased everyone is doing well too!

I'm in hospital tomorrow for a small op, I'll let you know how I get on afterwards but may not be here for a few days. Do not panic though, I'll get a message to someone!

@lucyginger  Best wishes for tomorrow.  Hope it goes well x

Don't knock the ear sex until you've tried it!:D incidentally as with any successful foreign film these days there is a Hollywood remake of the Intouchables on the way starring Bryan Cranston of Breaking Bad fame. Time will tell if they manage to do it any justice but my hopes aren't high...

Noooooo.. It'll never cut it old son lol.. I think being in French cos it is a French film makes the film.. But I will keep my eye out for this... Thanks for the info

Wow. You can choose your friends but not your family eh. I've been in a live re-enaction of a Jeremy kyle show. Or at least felt like it. Cant wait to get home. Not been physically attacked for at least 20 years. Irish sea feels like a good buffer.

Oh dear, sounds like you've had a bit of a rough time over there. Hope everything is okay.

Sorry dude, was about to delete the post. Pretty horrific showdown of hatred shown by my sibling this evening. No reasoning and no room for discussion. Just physically ejected from her house for her imagined slights. We are like chalk and cheese anyway but never expected anyone to attack me like that much less my sister.

Warm handshakes for those taking life decisions, and hug for those who need one. Yog, sounds a great plan, Lucy, hope it goes well, let us know, a message smuggler is better than a budgie smuggler. HMV, sparkly shoes and sumo outfits, that's the look for 2017 (and getting to a happy place).

lucy - best wishes for th op.

H.M.V - sounds nasty. Hope you get over the experience sooner rather than later. I told my oldest brother to fuck off last night. This is something I have never even dreamed of doing before. Mind you, it was in response to him trying to explain to me why I was, in his words, an eejit.

carlosj - thanks for th support.

Hope all goes well tomorrow Lucy.  Carlos - will expect to see you in your sparkly shoes and sumo outfit in June.  Glad you stood your ground at  the family meeting Yog.  HMV,  hope you're ok,  sounds like a horrible situation with your sister.  Mind you,  just because someone's family doesn't mean you have to love them, or even like them.  If your sis is the sort of person you'd have nothing to do with if she wasn't related, maybe best to keep the distance.  Big hugs all round.

Youngest's first day at Outreach school went well.  On the minus side we've just found out he was given the wrong book to study for English Lit - like he needs an additional obstacle to passing the GCSE!

Thanks dizzymoo.

Happy to hear that your youngest's first day at Outreach school went well. How can it be though that he was given the wrong book to study for English Lit? How on earth can somebody get that wrong? Were a whole swathe of other children also given the wrong book too? I really can't get my head around how a mistake like this could happen. I'm not one for nailing somebody to the cross for a genuine mistake, but can't work out why systems are not in place to prevent it occurring in the first place. Anyway, I wish him all the best at the new school.

I realised about 5 minutes ago that me and my wife's Glastonbury registrations were linked to a now defunct email address, so have just re-registered. Too be honest I'm not sure if our photos are going to pass the scrutiny test. My wife (who I have just had to carry upstairs) has one eye open and one eye closed on the photo, such is her state of inebriation. I, on the other hand, look quite dashing, as long as your definition of dashing errs more towards the Dame Edna Everage than it does Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy.

Hope the youngest continues to do well at the new school @dizzymoo and they get the right book sorted this time.

Good luck with the op @lucyginger get well soon.

@Yoghurt on a Stick you know you could have waited until tonight to re-register! You'll just have to remember to be in the same state of inebriation come June!:D

@H.M.V I have a sister who sounds very similar, she once physically assaulted our Mum! But it doesn't matter whether she is a sibling or not, nobody needs to be treated that way. Hope you get home safely and quickly.

Best wishes for the weekend everybody else.

Happy New Year to everyone! Hope you all had a good Christmas and holiday and back to work hasn't been too bad. My first day back today as managed to put my back out on New years eve (in the morning unfortunately so no drink had been taken) so spent NYE in bed with a hot water bottle and some strong painkillers - been in bed for days, just back up and about and into work today - 2017 can only get better!  It's this year folks!

Well - for some bizarre reason when I posted this yesterday none of the posts from the previous 2 days were visible on my screen the last post I could see was happy new year from Lucy so I missed HMV and Yeti setting the date Sheff lady getting engaged, Yog sorting out his life plan and doing what is best for him and much more besides... so to all the above and anything else I missed I didn't deliberately ignore your posts I just couldn't see them and belated congrats to all and sundry

Glasto 2017 was great, I really enjoyed the secret Tom Waits / Radiohead gig.  I also hope ex-President Obama gets back from the space trip to the moon ok. Happy Christmas y'all.

Just hedging bets in case you don't see my post till December ;-)

Ugh, my nose and lungs are struggling today. Man flu and self-pity are a classic combination.

Gagh, that sucks HMV.  Hope all's well now you're back in the Lakes.

Hope the op goes well Lucy.

Glad Mummy Bisque is well, and great news with the holiday booking.  Little bit jealous :)

Desperately trying to remember why I said I'd play tomorrow, it's going to be bloody freezing.  I know I'll enjoy it once I'm on the pitch, but I'm really not looking forward to it right now! :cold:

Aside from that it's a weekend of putting the decorations back in the loft and making a start on decorating the downstairs loo.  Rock 'n' roll beeyatches!

I've also got the lurgy (not sure it's thee lurgy, but a lurgy all the same)

@H.M.V big hugs, families are a strange bunch sometimes! Hopefully a glass of wine back in your wonderful home in the Lakes will make you feel much better :)

@lucyginger hope the op goes well, I'll send heeling vibes your way!

@Yoghurt on a Stick the dreaded registration, I don't think I've updated mine in a while, I had to renew my drivers license recently. Added age to it!

Thank you for all the messages, I haven't done any wedding planning - the thought of that makes my head hurt. I think I've said previously the idea of a 'big' day isn't really for me! It's such a shame that you can't get legally married at Glastonbury, I'd pay for that. Wednesday get married then have the most epic wedding party with Radiohead as the wedding band!

I promise to come along to the meet this year - you're such a lovely bunch, be a shame not to get over my fears and just say hi!

Hope the lurgies are better soon SL and @carlosj

Is it still really the case you  can't legally be married at Glastonbury?  Lots of places have licences now.  But you could still do a super minimal registry office ceremony and then have the proper blow out at the festival.  We ran away to Gretna as we couldn't be doing with a big wedding and it was lovely.  We didn't tell anyone until afterwards, when we sat in the car park texting everyone the news.

Hope all is ok @lucyginger, that your bits don't freeze off tomorrow @Quark, visit to your mum goes well @mr gumby, and that you've returned to this part of the space-time continuum @noplacelikehome. Glad your mum's op went ok @Bisque@Yoghurt on a Stick are you ok?  I worry a bit about you (not that it's my business).  Hope you and Mrs Yog are looking after yourselves.  The English book issue is hopefully being sorted with some 1-1 teaching on Animal Farm (the book not the revolting bestiality porno).  Youngest has his lessons via online tuition and isn't part of a class.  His tutor teaches many students using different exam boards so I think she's misunderstood part of the syllabus.  Even so,  it's quite an error!

Off to finish the cheap (even by Aldi's standards) merlot.  Have a lovely weekend all you wonderful peeps

All OK this end dizzymoo, thanks. I've pulled two all nighters in a row without sleep, but expect that I'll get some tonight. I'm actually feeling quite happy with the world at the moment and if one can have a vibe feel like 2017 is going to be a good one.

I see where your youngest's tutor has gone wrong now. Thanks for the explanation as I really couldn't get my head around how it could have arisen. Hopefully he'll catch up soon. Animal Farm is a clever book and hopefully he'll get right in to it.

Enjoy your merlot. :)
