A lot of UK ATC Units are moving to Automated Met, i.e. letting a fucking computer do it instead. Just saying.

Been on site today to setup our stall in the field of Avalon.

The site has had a lot of rain and is pretty choppy round the tracks where the tractors have chopped it up.

I toured the site and the higher ground is fine, sat down at the stone circle and did not get a wet arse.

Tuesday is the key for me.  If we can get dry weather for 36 hours till 9am Weds then the site will be ok and we will all be sitting down on the higher ground and the campsites will probably be ok.

I'm sticking with boots, will pick up some gaiters on Tuesday if it's looking grim. Wellies can go fuck themselves.

If you have got boots and gaiters, that should see you through. The worst of the rain should pass by Tuesday so ground conditiona are expected to be quite bad Wednesday but by Friday it should be quite firm as long as there isn't a further pour from Wednesday!

Ok great gaiters it is then, I'll pick some up tomorrow. Excuse my ignorance but I've never even seen a pair of these before - are they suitable to wear with shorts? Would I still get a 'booty' if the water was above ankle height?

Gah. Bloody vehicle tracks. We need some kind of hover-tractors :)

Doesn't look that bad though.  Nothing that a dry Tuesday won't fix!

No, it actually looks much better than I was expecting, although I'm arriving tomorrow during or just after a full day of rain, so am slightly dreading the muddy trek from car to campsite.

Am very much looking forward to a sunny Tuesday bimble though. Will tread lightly so as not to churn up any more ground :D

Try and find a pair of Berghaus Yeti gaiters - they fit over your boots (so get the right size gaiters) and they keep everything out, unless it can crawl up your leg and hop over the top of the gaiter.  But even then there's a cord for keeping it tight at the top.  Fleabay might have some going cheap.

    • yes, but it will be called a care tax...much nicer name...and they will bin inheritance tax which no one likes even though most people don't pay it....and it will be used to pay for your granny. Burnham is obviously the saviour and will win labour another landslide because he's nice northern lad and not some sir c**t from surrey.
    • Hey, I correctly predicted the entire Bizkit Main Stage day months in advance 😝
    • Its just going to be another dementia tax isn't it? The issue is this is going to be seen as a continuation of the labour government that have already raised taxes 1000% above manifesto promises.
    • One thing that Burnham has been talking about is scrapping inheritance tax and replace it with a social care levy ... which would be less progressive, but might be a good idea if was a solution for the social care crisis. Would need to sell it well to a public who would prefer not to pay more tax.
    • Maybe you should put your name forward to be Burnham's chancellor.
