I second Whitney, Steve Gunn and Radiohead.

Albums I also really liked:

  • Beyoncé - Lemonade
  • Blood Orange - Freetown Sound
  • Woods - City Sun Eater in the River of Light
  • Weezer - The White Album
  • Car Seat Headrest - Teens Of Denial
  • Sturgill Simpson - A Sailors Guide To Earth

Heard really good things about that Woods album, I'm going to have to get involved I think. Agree about that Car Seat Headrest album too, it really is fantastic. Shame they had to be on so bloody early that I missed them!

The Tourist album is full of great summer beats, going to have to buy tickets for his December show in Bristol.

The AHOHNI album is my favorite of the year so far. Glorious stuff. Big shout out to Anderson Paak as well from way back in January, and The Coral on a return to form.

Radiohead, Anderson .Paak, Kendrick and James Blake probably my stand outs so far.

Haven't really thought about it so probably forgotten something, and I'm awful at listening to new music so there's probably loads that would be in my list if I'd bothered to check them out.

unfortunately missed Hinds in favour of Kamasi Washington. hoping they play nearby soon!

Mitski is a female singer/songwriter - kind of indie/alternative i guess. obsessed with this song in particular at the moment

Would it be appropriate to put Frank Ocean as No1 yet? On the presumption it's going to be fucking amazing

i was gonna say the same thing  ridiculously excited for it, even though i think the November date was probably the correct one from that list he posted

Yeah, a pretty harsh clash that one for me. I trust Kamasi was good? Hinds did a tour in the Spring, but if they have a good festival season they may well go again.

Cheers, I'll check that out!

Some decent releases out tomorrow, then it looks like a quiet(ish) few weeks (Good Charlotte anyone?). Good chance to catch up on some stuff I've missed recently.

Can you take a time out and only come back when you've learned how to behave properly please?

New Trust Fund is out now! https://trustfund.bandcamp.com/ starting my first listen as we speak. Second track, Ellis has gone all 808s And Heartbreak on us! I fucking love Trust Fund.

Listening to the new Blood Orange for the first time - really, really good so far. Still like 7 more tracks, lucky me. Debbie Harry and Empress Of and Nelly Furtado and Carly Rae as guest vocalists? Fuck yeah!

Savages - Adore Life
Teen Suicide - It's the Big Joyous Celebration, Let's Stir the Honeypot

Been listening to James Blake fucking loads since I got back. Had given the album a bit of a wide berth after I decided I'd be seeing New Order on the Saturday, got back into it in a big way since. It's a brilliant record.

Making up the rest of the top three so far this year are Radiohead and Car Seat Headrest.

My mate's suggested I check out Chance the Rapper, Eagulls and White Lung next. Any other recommendations?

These ones I like lots; Beyonce, Anderson .Paak, Emmy The Great, Car Seat Headrest, Anna Meredith, Kendrick Lamar, Radiohead, Christine & The Queens, Modern Baseball, Paul Simon, Melt Yourself Down, Imarhan, Polica.

These ones I have yet to listen to; Blood Orange, The Kills, David Bowie, Metronomy, Anohni, Floating Points, The Avalanches, King Gizzard, Death Grips, Massive Attack, Minor Victories.

I'm well looking forward to these ones; Frank Motherfucking Ocean, Los Campesinos!, Owen Pallett, Touche Amore, Miles Mosley (played bass in Kamasi's band, for those who were there at West Holts, he played a track at the Manchester show and it was fookin buzzin lads).

These were shit; Kanye West, Ladyhawke.

have you heard that Ariana Grande album!? all banger - no clanger

Heard I think two singles, utter trash. It's like when you people all wanted to pretend Bieber's latest album was good. It wasn't, it was cast off beats from a shite subgenre of shite house, with JB trying to sound cool over the top.
