Great booking that. Would prefer them more around 6pm when everyones had a good drink, but can't complaint.

That's one way of looking at it. Another way would be that James provide a good excuse to get a few cans down the hatch straight after breakfast! :)

Would have preferred them a bit later on I think.

11am is too early to start raving in my book.

Maybe they'll do a Kaiser Chiefs and double up with another set too.

Fair comment.  I'd also like to see them when things are in full flow, that Other stage opener crowd has been a sorry affair in the past, the lack of interest and turnout for the Charlatans last year was a bit sad.  At least when Liam and the boys trotted out their nonsense a decent sized crowd had turned out for the disappointment.

Also means they won't be watching any football matches and refuse to come on stage. ;)

Never really listened to James before, where does everyone recommend I start?

Fresh as a Daisy: The Singles

...and then if you want to go further Le Petite Mort & their latest Girl At the End of the World (which I expect they'll play a couple off at least).

As Russy so eloquently puts it, it's a terrible slot, dreadful really.

What is the actual point?

I assume that every single James fan would rather see them play a set at an appropriate time/setting. Not 11am. Same goes for any and every other band who is ever likely to occupy it.

Maybe they're not necessarily the secret one that BBC have implied (although, admittedly, it seems likely atm), but they could be the one after the secret set. They've had fairly big bands performing in that slot the last few years. The Hives, Blondie and The Cribs, if I'm not mistaken?

says in the BBC article that they're on at 11am, so yeah, definitely the not so secret opener

Many people wait years to get to Glastonbury. I thought I'd pee my pants with excitement when I eventually got there. You could have put Joe Dolce & The St Winifred's school choir up there last year for me. It's a hugely emotional slot for many. I'll be there again.

I file James alongside Kendrick Lamar, Radiohead, The National and The Stone Roses in my collection of revered eFests acts that I just don't get the fuss about.

But at that time of the morning, I'll more than likely pop along and see if something clicks.

    • There’s a few in there which could go either way or I’m not bothered if I miss but think that’s now be pretty set.  Few rubbish clashes like Kasabian/Loyle plus Reytons/Pixies/CMAT but I’ll head with the lads to the most popular one.   (And yes no Byrne or Twigs, just can’t into either)
    • I saw somewhere they were advertising Lewis' day as him live on Glagow Green and only mentioned Amy Mcdonald and CMAT as support, 0 mention of the festival  I completely agree this will probably be the last one which is a shame because the first 2 seemed so promising and now its turned into middle of the road rubbish with acts you can see everywhere else  Anyone know if the BBC are covering it next week as it'll be fascinating to see how full (or empty) it is
    • Did anyone catch Viagra Boys last night? A rollicking good set, with a little more free jazz than I expected.   if you’re up early, Walabi is doing a super job in the Cupra Pulse. There till six.

    • They really dropped a bollock on their lineup this year. They went with Richard Ashcroft because he did well as Oasis support - But realistically, you're not getting 50k people in a field to hear the 4 or 5 songs they know at like £70+ a ticket. Can't get my head around the Kasabian booking, either. Finsbury Park was a bold move for them, and yes it sold out, but I think you're more likely to see people make the journey to London if they want to see them rather than Glasgow. A second similar capacity show was always going to be a big ask for them.
