I guess, but fake plastic trees etc is so old, will half the crowd even know them, let alone demand them!

which makes it all the more a shame that they didn't headline off the back of In Rainbows, as that material would've gone down an absolute storm

you'd be surprised how much people still hold that old material in regard and think that anything after OK Computer is crap. i believe a few posters on here even hold that opinion

Problem is that fans like us will love almost any set they put together.  But you'll still have the thousands who will be at the Pyramid because they watch every headliner there. They know the name Radiohead, might know Creep and one or two others (nothing post-2000) and still trot out the cliché of them being "a bit depressing". Anything other than a greatest hits set they'll most likely hate...

I love Radiohead, it wouldn't really bother me too much what tunes they played, but for the purpose of headlining the Pyramid, my preference would be for the hits - you can't beat a Pyramid singalong moment, spine tingling.

They have enough well known tunes to do a good balance of both though I reckon. 

Surely the majority of people know more tunes than Creep these days?! Any fan of alternative music of whatever genre is likely to know a few?

I'm not sure. They haven't released the sort of huge single that gets massive radio and media exposure since OK Computer  (There There might be the biggest since) certainly little that would cross the path of those with only a casual interest in the genre.

i think after OK Computer it gets a bit hazy. i mean, There There got to number 4 in the charts which is unimaginable for a band like Radiohead these days, but it's still not a song a casual music fan would recognise, and they've only moved further away from a commercial sound since then.

IF they did play Glastonbury i imagine they'd maybe throw one more in from The Bends and OK Computer (Planet Telex and another, Paranoid Android and another) but for the rest of the set it's gonna be for the fans.

I really don't think the 'popular singles' thing is a problem with Radiohead at all. They have more than enough dedicated fans within the Glastonbury audience to get a great crowd response even without the singalongs.

Imagine they get announced and then do a Bowie and come out and do a full blown greatest hits set and smash it out the park like no one else currently could. A setlist of the majority of the following songs plus a couple of new ones.

Creep, Planet Telex, Street Spirit, Fake Plastic Trees, Paranoid Android, Karma Police, No Surprises, Let Down, Everything in its Right Place, The National Anthem, Idioteque, Pyramid Song, There There, Myxomatosis, Reckoner, Jigsaw Falling Into Place, Weird Fishes, Lotus Flower

Are there any others that would go down better than those I've listed? I only got into them when In Rainbows was released so don't really know which songs of theirs are big with the public other than the obvious few. Had no idea There There was a hit. Not even sure how many of those ones I listed above are known by the masses.

only major omission i can see is Just, but apart from that that's about as much of a Radiohead greatest hits set as you could get. i just feel like they've already done their 'fuck it, here's a greatest hits set' type thing a few years back at the likes of V 2006 and Reading 2009 and are way past that now, but then, who knows what this new album will sound like - could've gone back to your guitar led rock songs that would fit right along side a greatest hits type set

Oh shit yeah I completely forgot Just haha, definitely would have included that.

Oh did they not usually play hits at the time of those V sets? When people post those setlists I just assumed those were kind of sets Radiohead played at the time. Fair enough.

I'd be happy with whatever they played tbh, but I think if they did a standard Radiohead setlist at Glastonbury 2016 the crowd would be pretty naff, so a greatest hits set would be great.

They've been confirmed for Lollaplooza in Chicago 28th-31st July and two other north American festivals, not sure what that means for their Glastonbury chances but I think if they are playing it could be announced pretty soon

doesn't really mean much for Glastonbury apart from they're still free to play it. not sure about them being announced early, although i guess they're the only headliner (if we're believing it's Radiohead, Adele and Coldplay) to not have tour dates to sell so would be the logical one to announce early if playing

They've not been confirmed by those festivals so it's not like they're dragging announcements forward. Just COS got the deets and probably have had 'em for a while.
