Radiohead touring in 2016

Muse were penciled into headline on Friday, Radiohead came about and there was agreement reached on kind of behalf of Muse' liking for them to play lower but on the Sunday instead of the Friday with Adele subbing so she doesn't have the weight of the headliner, and then Foo's are the Saturday headliner anyway. Muse billed as special guest with Ellie playing 3rd but as a sub (set times all moved around to accommodate all :).

Could Muse have been booked as a back up to Adele in case she got cold feet?  (Hasn't this happened before?)  this would allow the festival to have a ready made back up headliner

How many times has someone from Glastonbury HQ, in recent memory at least, come out publicly about being in discussion with a headliner like that bloke did with Adele? Being a newbie to the festival, and assuming it's usually hush hush as would appear to be the case, it seems a bit odd for the festival to come out with the comment so publicly. Makes me think she's turned it down, as otherwise they would have no real reason to delay announcing it? As far as I know all her arena shows have sold out. It all seems to be between Radiohead/Muse but is there much info to say Adele is an almost cert, and if so, why they'd hold back the announcement?

So I listened to In Rainbows last night and this afternoon, it's decent enough, not really what I'm after though. Kid A, on the other hand, is very promising. I like this weird shit.

I'm just on my second go around of Kid A now. First listen was in work this afternoon as I was frantically typing an email to a woman who might have cause to make me redundant somewhere down the line, so all my thoughts were focused on pretending not be a moron who turns up and sends group emails of Futurama quotes to everybody instead of working. Now it's got my full attention I think it's actually fucking brilliant, enjoying it a lot.

That's a good question.

There's definitely been times over the years where names of unconfirmed acts (or blatant clues) have been casually dropped by people senior within the Festival organisation - but not usually in that much detail. Usually when it happens it's because Michael has made a throwaway comment that he probably shouldn't have. The comments in Loaded were far more specific than anything I've seen before.

As well as that, the person who made the comments is Martin Elbourne - he's been booking the Pyramid for something like 20 years now, and yet very rarely gives interviews and has almost no public profile. I could understand it a bit more if the comments had come from Michael or Emily as they tend to be the face of the Festival to most media.

There was a Michael interview before 2013 where they were discussing how he books bands and he said "Yeah, so I ring up The Rolling Stones or whoever".

Yeah, I like In Rainbows a lot, but it's a bit too clean, I find tracks like All I Need almost boring (by Radiohead standards)

I broadly enjoyed The Bends and to a lesser extent OK Computer when I was younger and got fairly into In Rainbows after a girl I liked gave me my first ever line and started dancing around to 15 Step. Last few days though I've been giving Kid A a proper go and I think I'm a signed-up Radiohead fan now. And in celebration, here's a setlist (allowing a bit of space for new ones).

No blasphemy, as Woffy said earlier, relative Radiohead appreciation moves around significantly over the years. Amnesiac has been my least favourite in the last and has currently drifted up to being in my top 4 somewhere.

The real blasphemy is that I've not made a list of my favourite albums since the prospect of actually seeing them play arose.

Agree with the song omissions (well, I'd probably keep Backdrifts in there as well), but I'd keep the running order closer to the original. 2+2=5 is definitely the best opener.

I'm up for reordering it...but I like 2+2=5 as an opener, it works really well with 'nice way to start Johnny' at the beginning. And I wouldn't want to lose any tracks either- A druken punch up at a wedding has a groove you don't get on many other RH tracks, and I Will +We Suck Young Blood have beautiful vocals.

Radiohead are a band I change my opinions of a lot. I often go through big spells of not bothering with them at all. Others where I go over everything. 

I very rarely listen to Amnesiac, but I will put that right..... now.

The 01 - 10 thing is a bit odd. I really wanted it to be a thing, and maybe it was, but it doesn't quite fit together like you'd hope it does. Similar sounds at the start and end of songs but nothing that to my ears links them all together

I've just stumbled upon the playlist of OK Computer and In Rainbows when the 01 and 10 theory first came about, going to give it another whirl now!

I do really want the new album to just be released already!

Tried the OK Computer In Rainbows thing a few years ago and can say I am definitely not a believer. As a side note something about the idea of them recording everything at once is troubling to me, not really sure why, maybe just the magnitude of the whole thing if it were true.

I know Martin Elborne reasonably well, and have a face to face chat fairly regularly, usually at least once a year. Depending on various things (perhaps even his mood at the time) he's sometimes quite willing to disclose particular things - as are Michael and Emily too. It's actually far harder to get anything of substance from those lower down the chain.

What's reported in that mag is quite typically Martin - tho it's probably true that he wasn't expecting his words to end up fully quoted in a mag for all of the world to see.

Nah. Martin happened to say how things stand, and he happened to say that to a reporter. He might not have known he was speaking to a reporter tho.

(I always make a point with someone I don't know in his position of making them aware that I might use their words. I don't wish to con anyone [I don't need to tell Martin nowadays, he knows what I do]).

But just because he's saying they're after Adele doesn't mean they'll get her.

Martin once told me one April how they were going to have a particular band one year, while I knew enough to know that they had an announced date in the USA on Glasto weekend. He still insisted they'd get them, while I told him that I absolutely knew Glasto wouldn't, as that band rated the USA show far higher than they'd have rated Glasto at that time. Martin said the agent had promised him Glasto would get them, I told him Glasto definitely wouldn't. Glasto didn't get them.

There was nothing clever about what I knew (almost all of it was public domain), I just happened to know it, while he in his position didn't. I guess that's some sort of booker's bubble.

Whether or not Glasto has Adele I've no idea. My hunch (based on info, both public & private) says yes, but I wouldn't be surprised if she's turned them down.
