Theme Park I believe

EDIT: It's an old one that's been done up and re-opened. A hipster day out

Foals are the first act to be announced for By The Sea, with a full artist and DJ programme is to be announced in the coming weeks.

I see. I did Google it earlier and couldn't find anything about Foals, promise. :P They should really chuck in a cover of Life is a Rollercoaster.

Looking at the reaction on twitter and facebook (I know) a lot of it is people complaining about there being no London, other Scottish dates and particularly Manchester so there's definitely some demand there.

I think you are self hyping that kingcrawler, fans will start complaining about ANY band not playing the big city they want them too and considering all 3 of them are big gigging cities including the capital it's not a big thing.

Biffy clyro werent big enough to headline, libertines arent either but they have.

Its a new era of headliners - not too many massive bands coming through but they need fresh bands.

Biffy Clyro were on a second round of arena dates, The Libertines had sold a fair load of Hyde Park tickets and 2, 3/4 of a 3rd night at Ally Pally in the same year before doing so. Massive difference to Foals. Let's not have the, but they've headline Bestival, and what?, means jack!

I was just adding to my point about them missing out some of the big cities making an arena tour early next year seem likely.

So headlining a near 80k capacity festival doesn't mean anything then? Cool

If Leeds genuinely has only sold around 30k, then I wonder what the bands will think playing to such small crowds compared to other years, or even Reading the previous night? Imagine Metallica walking out to a crowd of 20k because 10k are watching Rebel Sound...

To add to my list, smashing pumpkins and qotsa are probably too small to headline reading.

Pumpkins way too small these days, saw them play in Nottingham a few years back and the arena was only about a third full. They played half a set and buggered off, no chance of them headlining festivals any more. Having seen them in their prime it is a shame but they don't have the profile and their shows are too unpredictable to risk at the top of the bill. I imagine Billy would be too proud to play too far down the bill so don't think they will play Reading again.
