How would he fuck up this festival? That Gorillaz set was cobbled together at short notice, but Blur are currently active and playing shows that have been incredibly well received.

Damon does have a sore throat, though. I thought he sounded rough in a session video I saw a week or two back and on TFI Friday tonight they had to do Coffee & TV so it was Graham singing. I'm seeing them at Hyde Park next Saturday, so it's a bit concerning.

And that 'cobbled together' set had Snoop Dogg, Lou Reed, Shaun Ryder, De La Soul, Bobby Womack, Mark E Smith, Mick Jones and Paul Simonon as guests.

Headlining with days to spare would suit Prince's eleventh hour scheduling preferences but I doubt he'd be prepared to headline on the basis that somebody else had an accident.

They should phone up Prince and say "Listen up you purple dick, this is your one and only opportunity to ever play our legendary festival. Get on board NOW or fuck off forever". Something tactful along those lines.

REM once cancelled 7 or 8 shows in the Monster tour when they were arguably the worlds biggest band. Anything is possible.

Yeah but Foos have 20 shows this month and next. And another 12 in August where his mobility will still be limited.

I don't see them cancelled all 30 shows, which means they're going to have to figure out a way to make the current tour show work with his current condition. If they can do that, there's no need to cancel. Though it might be that, depending on what they figure out, they could ask to play earlier on the Friday as the set might suit a non-headline spot better.

Transverse fibula fracture. Relatively little load bearing through it (tibia does most). Yes it'll hurt like buggery for a few days, but in a well applied, light cast he'll be 'comfortable' and reasonably mobile in a week. Issue will be if they want to realign and nail it. There is some displacement but the periosteum (outer bone membrane) is still intact, so they might leave it. Tibia would have meant an op for certain. Bottom line is, he'd probably be 'fine' to do the gig sitting/leaning in two weeks. The logistics are not that hard. The question will be if he WANTS to. Would he be happy for a FF Pyramid slot having that caveat? Possibly yes, as it's a hell of a demonstration of commitment and would earn him huge kudos...ARE YOU LISTENING DALTREY? TOWNSHEND?!!!

Well, they are due to play Pinkpop on Sunday - if they do Pinkpop, they'll do Glastonbury so I think we only really need to worry if they pull out on Sunday night... Until then, I'm remaining positive...

I'm a doc (but not an orthopod) and I think it's fair to agree he won't be weight bearing on that for a whole gig in two weeks.

Sitting down would be feasible, but can Dave get the kind of purchase he needs from his voice sat down?

The only way he could possibly play is sat down. He's broken his bloody leg, for Christ's sake! The way he continued was seriously admirable but once the adrenaline of the stage had worn off the bloke will have been in agony or doped up on performance-affecting painkillers.

If I was him, and this seems an appropriate opportunity to reveal that I'm not, I'd be making some horrible decisions right now. Pinkpop is surely out of the question and I'd cancel a few others as well - the next two weeks are intensive for the band. I'd be in rehearsals to explore whether a sat-down Grohl on painkillers is in any way possible and if so, select which dates to re-arrange.

If he thinks he can do it, Glastonbury is probably safe because the only way he can 're-arrange' it is to play another year. But it will definitely involve him sitting on a chair on the pyramid stage. That will either lead to an outpouring of affection from the crowd and a belter of a set or a compromised Foo Fighters, delivering a substandard performance with many just wondering if the bloke's alright and thinking they probably shouldn't have bothered.

I think they'd easily invite him back next year to perform if he has to pull out. Dave sitting on a chair wont do! That would really tame the whole experience but im thinking Emily and Michael are eagerly waiting til Sunday to see what happens and getting their back up's in order just in case
