Big Ground is a good spot imo. The headliners on Pyramid finish early and there isn't any reason for people to be walking through it unless they are camping there or going to the Police HQ at the top of the path so quieter at night for those who like a bit of sleep and less opportunistic tent robberies there possibly. Also the free cash points and the porcelain flushing toilets are big plus points. Does fill up quick though so no good for really big groups, stayed in Dairy the last few times due to this reason.

As for staying round the tent, Don't mind escaping the festival proper for a bit, always good if there's some characters around the campsites doing the same for a chat, no harm if done in moderation.

The one down point of my experience last year was the walk down a "monster" of a hill on the way in and the climb back up it on the Monday damn near killed me !!

Was parked near the Campervan field last year, can the hill be avoided ?!

No is the answer, it's pot luck which car park you get put in, you either end up gate B or C, no choice. Gate B depending on car park field can also have a horrendous hill to climb.

Depending which side you approach the site you can end up in the East or West car parks, West has gate A and D, East B and C. You can't control which of the two gates you end up nearest though, just depends what field they are filling at the time.

Limited knowledge as last year was my inaugural Glasto. We arrived around midday on Thursday via the Reading coach and the stewards advised that we head up towards Baileys from Gate A as they were just about to open and overflow field. We didn't know the name of it at the time but it appears (on some of the maps) as "Mrs Wills". At a guess there was around 100 tents in the field at its peak and it stayed fresh and relatively mud free due to the lesser footfall through there for the duration. Nearest water point and longdrops are located in Baileys (2 minute walk or 5 minute trudge dependant on the mud) with Arcadia less than 10 minutes away and TO Stage and Glade less than 15.

If it wasn't for the fact I'm keen to explore the other camping areas this year (big ground I reckon) I'd be heading straight back there this year.

+1 for setting up camp next to a path so you don't have to find your tent. The trick is to camp next to a path that's hardly used, those that camp up on the main path to the Park in PHG must get very little peace. Also seen quite a few on the path getting full searches by security last year.

I always try & camp within ten or so steps from a path, makes life so much easier, especially in the dark after a few.

2013 - my first, I camped with friends in Pennards. Had a ball.

2014 - tried for Pennards after getting the 06.00 Wednesday coach from London. Full. Trekked around for what seemed like FOREVER and ended up at South Park 2. Pitched tent. Fainted.

Was brilliant though. Yes, it is a way out but I liked that walk back to the tent at the end of our night (usually after sunrise)

We'll be heading back there this year.

I thought Dairy was good last year. The only problem was the mess afterwards! Never seen that much rubbish and abandoned tents and other camping equipment on a Monday

That and the roars from Arcadia in the middle of the night but you'll get that pretty much everywhere

I think I've been spoilt with camping on big ever other year (bar a couple in the traders or one very early year I can't even remember) and because it upset my autopilots gyroscope I found myself aimlessly wondering in between tents when I was worse for wear. My internal guidance for glasto is programmed to head for big ground.

Yeah the proximity to the police & the medical tent is an advantage, my mate was having some pretty heavy palpitations last year and a long walk to the MASH might have made things worse.

The free cash & the 24hr cafe is good too & you can't walk past the chapel tent without them offering you a cup of water, which everyone always takes with a grateful smile. It's the closet thing to luxury camping without having to pay.

As for getting a spot, we have mates whole que Tuesday night at gate b & carry & pitch our tents in exchange for carrying some of there equipment so we generally get a sweet spot of the whole team.

by day 3-4 however it is complete squalor and i can't wait to get away from it. when those seagulls start to circle you know it's nearly home time.

If I remember right, circa 2005/2007 there used to be a lot nearer camping to silver hayes where they have additional stages now. it looked horrible and always baffled me why anyone would camp there.

I camp fairly close to one of the main paths in PHG and it's not too bad. If you're trying to sleep anywhere in PHG when the tracks are busiest you're going to have trouble just because of what else is going on around/in that field.

I camped right in the middle of Pennards once and it was a bloody nightmare trying to get in/out and it was still noisy!

As for camping.. usual was kidney mead top place, a little bit "touristy" now adays.. Did dairy last year, fantastic location..

I find this very reassuring. I've been in Wicket, Webbs Ashe and Park Home all very good in my view. Am aiming for South Park 2 if it's still available wednesday evening, I fancy the spectacular view in the morning.

We've always camped in Dairy, have always enjoyed it there, good spot for getting to Silver Hayes/Park/Stone Circle and JP. This will be my first time since 2011 so interested to see how it's changed since Arcadia has now moved.

Worst, I'm in agreement with some of the previous posts, who in their right mind would camp next to the toilets? Also if you like to at least sleep a bit, don't camp too near to any of the walkways.

Camped at Dairy last year. Was good enough for us, so we'll probably do it again. Near Gate D I believe? Got in about 11am on the Wednesday after queuing for hours but there was a surprisingly large amount of space when we got in.

Pylon fields for me, generally quiet and a bit of a treck from SE, but I always enjoy the walk back, plenty of wonderful sights! Toilets generally in good condition and nice people.

I camped by the Chill and Charge/Leftfield when I first went. The spot isn't used anymore, but you couldn't be more 'in it' if you tried.
