Rock bars are so massively underrated in my opinion. They have enough dance music late night, but a few more cool, chic rock bars around the place would be awesome. Rock up with a few ciders, have a fine chat, lose your voice if you haven't managed to do so in the day time. Pop out to the dance music and then go to another rock bar.

Seems like a quality idea.

Before the headliners finish, but there will always be a queue. Trust me, it's worth it. My favourite place of all time.

I think I must have managed to avoid the good bit of NYC Downlow because when I dropped in last year, it was essentially a large hall with a DJ at the end of it. Every venue in Block 9 seemed fantastic to look at but pretty soulless to be part of.

There are three rooms and there are performances occasionally in the main room, but yeah it's just a club really. Depends on what you're after.

Very true, we usually time it well but last year it was a nightmare, I'll be there earlier this time

I plan on exploring the Common a lot more this year I've not seen a great deal around there

Went to a place called Acid Lounge last year (not to be confused with Bez's Acid House, it's further on) and it was fantastic. Went for a Primal Scream DJ set and the atmosphere in there was amazing. Definitely going back there this year

Less time in Stonebridge bridge more time in Block 9/the common

Didn't you see the transvestites dancing? And laser girl! She was fantastic. They just dance on stage and occassionally do a bit of an act. It was superb and brilliant dance music too

Would it be a idea to go instead of watching the headliners to miss any queue? What time does the nighttime stuff start?

Yes. I rarely watch the headliners, prefering to amble around site. The SE corner will be quiet then but it soon wakes up. I prefer Block 9 and the common to Shangr-la

Didn't enjoy the SE corner last time. It was great to see it and walk through but that's all I enjoyed about it. Saying that we ended up in one of the bars there for about an hour that I quite liked. It had a day of the dead theme in there, think it was by the waterfall?

I really don't rate dance music outside of the festival anyway. When I'm out I enjoy anywhere that plays funk, soul, disco, indie, rock etc and anything I can sing along to at the top of my voice when I'm smashed.

Well, from this thread it is clear that there is fun to be had all over the site. Williams green sounds interesting, I rarely visit that corner of the site in the day, let alone at night normally, so I'll make some effort this year.

We ended up in what we call the masons arms. A bar in the craft field behind the stone carvings where they have real ale, sofas, table football and a bar staying open till late. We ended up there about 6:00am after being at shangri la. They were doing morning keep fit exercises! We did a little before making our way back to the tent for a good night's sleep!

Was that Rockworld cafe during the day then? as layout is the same and was behind the stone carving in craft field - our glasto vetrans in the group told us about this places as we go there on thursdays for brandy coffees :)

That bar sounds like 'back of beyond' in the common. Great little bar. You have to spend some time in there to see the weird shit. People copying dancing of a shadow cowboy. Doing the conga with the dead. Praising the weather gods etc etc.
