What time does the Bimble Inn close?

Also in 2013 on the Friday (1am ish I think) we stumbled across a bar/tent that was advertising itself as guilty pleasures and playing air guitar cheese/80's etc. Some guy proposed to his Mrs on stage and they got carried around by the crowd, a load of giant balloons got dropped onto the crowd and its was all in all bloody amazing .... It was over near where the bourbon street used to be !!

And before I forget the Rocket Lounge (last year's acts listed in the link) is Gaz Mayall's baby for the weekend, so plenty of ska in there. Vin Gordon and the Trojans provided one of last year's highlights for me. Also the Deluxe Diner next door may well be of interest. :)

Both in Shangri la, so it's far from all dance in there.

I wanna find a bar that plays 80s pop & general cheesy pop, any suggestions? Been guilty of just sitting at my tent & just drinking after the headliners finish in the past

Thursday night in Williams Green is usually Guilty Pleasures night. Non stop cheese til 0300h. Not sure where you'd find cheese the rest of the weekend though.

Guilty Pleasures is on at Williams Green (or at least they have been in the past - The Queens Head before that) and I think they only do 1 or 2 slots, so if anyone wants to pay a visit they'll have to check day/times.

Yeah - the Chameleon bar in the markets is good for more indie. It hosts the Propaganda nights in the evenings and last year left there at about 3:30am having been there since midway through Metallica's set, so it's a good option.

+1 For Chameleon Bar. Open til 0300 every night and playing indie/rock/alt music all night. Can be found in the market area between pyramid and other. Has a large, err....Chameleon outside.

I highly recommend The Rocket Lounge, always pop in there a few times over the festival. Their frozen strawberry daiquiris are really good as well.

Williams Green have actually got Guilty Pleasures (cheese), Club De Fromage (cheese) and Buttoned Down Disco (indie) all listed. I imagine they will host a night each so should be sorted if you like that kind of music!

The are a lots of late night live music venues too which are not necessarily dance music exclusive.

Avalon Cafe - Live bands til 0300

Sensation Seekers Stage doing their Wheel of Four Tunes to 0200-0300

Bimble Inn - Live Music til 0300+

Stonebridge Bar - All sorts of live stuff til 0300+

.....To mention a few.

Well this worked out better than I expected!! I knew there must be more going on than the heavy dance stuff and the obvious wander through Block 9. All suggestions gratefully received, and glad to see this might have helped out a few others in the same boat!

With the size of the site it's so easy to wander past these sorts of shenanigans and completely miss them, and SE corner is just the default setting. Looking forward to this.

See you all at Guilty Pleasures!!

Did anyone else find that tiny little place at shangri-la last year that was like basically an office?

We popped our heads in to see what it was and we got dragged in by 'the boss' who was screaming about us being late.... some other fella was walking around asking people to fax things, throwing folders around.

I got given a note that said 'I love you pig'.

Can't remember what music they were playing, but I'm sure it wasn't techno or anything hardcore, remember singing along. It was a fun little place to spend 20 mins or so.

Yes!!! Completely forgot about that place.

You could write a message, give it to one of the secretaries and if it was good they would either file it, stick it on the wall or give it to another person in the office. I gave them my number haha.

The actors were absolutely brilliant.

They were so good! Hopefully it's there again this year, along with dirty old brasstards!

As other have said, the nano-venues in Shangri La don't always play dance music and they don't even play the same type of music if you go in multiple times during the weekend. Can be a bit of a needle in the haystack kind of thing though.

Fantastic thread, thanks OP. I like a combination of things but too much dance music that isn't to my taste and I start getting restless, as a first-timer last year I just found Shangri-La overwhelming & claustrophobic - I mean it was impressive from a visual point of view but very easy to lose friends & all the venues seemed overcrowded. Perhaps, despite the size of the festival already this is the biggest issue as it had the feeling of almost having outgrown itself. I'm guessing it's perhaps better to head there earlier/later if you don't want to feel so much like a herded sheep.

Hopefully will spend some time at Bimble/Avalon this year, I think it's nice to have a couple of intense night's & others that are a bit more relaxed else you tend to burn out. Can recommend Club de Fromage if you like cheese, cracking good fun. Is the silent disco in the park on Wednesday mainly well-known tunes?
